Wikipedia's Shameful Offering on Michael Jackson's Death -- It was a Hacker, Right?

Wikipedia -- or Somebody -- Owes Jackson Family Apology

Paula Shablo
While searching the web today for information on celebrity deaths in 2009, I came across an article on Wikipedia that I just cannot believe. You can see it at this address: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Jackson.

At a time when this man's family is grieving and trying to sort out the futures of his children and business concerns, the last thing they need is an article so reprehensible floating around in cyberspace on a site which is widely used and respected by millions.

My hope is that some hacker got on the site and inserted a lot of slanderous information, but if this is not the case, then Wikipedia should be ashamed of its writers and should be issuing a lot of apologies to the family and fans of Michael Jackson.

I know freedom of the press is and American right, but I really feel that this is going too far. All I wanted to do was get some facts regarding his career. Instead I found him introduced as an "American child molester" and the "seventh mistake of the Jackson family o' niglets." (Please don't yell at me--these are quotes from the article!)

Underneath his picture, all his stats have been changed to racial and sexual slurs.

My hope that this is a foul joke played by some hacker is in part sustained by the fact that after the first few lines about his death, the rest of the article pertaining to his life and career appears to be legitimate.

I plan to try to get in touch with Wikipedia and let them know about this, but I am unsure of where to start. I hope to be writing again soon regarding a resolution to this issue.

"Wikipedia should be ashamed of its writers..." You do realize that Wikipedia relies on contributions from the public and that anyone, even you, can edit a page on Wikipedia. Which also leads me to point out, Wikipedia is NOT a reliable source, because ANYONE can edit the pages! Not only were you wrong on those two points, which leads me to believe you aren't a very informed writer, but the link you provided shows the Wikipedia page perfectly intact - no racist jokes.
