Wild Black Bear Attacks Couple Inside Their Pennsylvania Home

Wild Black Bear Attacks a Couple Inside Their Oliver Township, Perry County Home in Pennsylvania

Rue Cooper

Richard and Angela Moyer, of Oliver Township, Perry County, Pennsylvania, had an unexpected and life-threatening experience yesterday morning when they were attacked by a wild black bear inside their home.

It is believed the attack began when the bear chased their dog inside the home. The wild black bear then began an attack on Mr. Moyer first and then continued on to drag Mrs. Moyer onto the patio when she intervened to help.

Emergency dispatchers transported the couple to a Harrisburg hospital where both were treated for injuries - with Richard Moyer requiring 70 staples and stitches to close wounds.

A Pennsylvania Game Commission spokesman said it may have been a mother bear defending cubs and a trap has been set to catch the bear.

The family dog must have provoked this bear in a big way! Hope this couple will recover well. That is alot of stitches to receive for an injury for this man!

I saw this in the newspaper this morning. I thought of you as I had seen your bear stories yesterday! How bizarre. Black Bear don't usually act this way unless provoked.
