Wild Rain - Christine Feehan

Terri Pray
Wild Rain, by Christine Feehan, is the second shifter story of hers that I've had the pleasure of reading. In fact I haven't, as yet, stumbled across a book by Ms. Feehan that I haven't enjoyed. The three main series she writes that I've been reading are her Dark series, Drake Sister series, and the Mind series. All three have been well worth the read and I continue to pick up the one's I don't own either when I have the spare funds, or through the library so I don't end up missing out on her work.

With a new identity and a staged death, Rachael has risked all in a chance to escape those who hunted her. She's risked all in the attempt to escape the treachery that has stalked her into the jungles. She's run from a faceless assassin and a life she has no choice but to leave behind. Now she's thousands of miles from the home she knew, sheltered and hunted beneath the lush canopy of the ancient rain forest and desperately hoping that somehow she's found the sanctuary she craves.

Rio holds the answer. When he finds her she's injured, one of the two cloud leopards he hunts with, who he calls friends, has taken a chunk out of her leg and she's slowly bleeding to death in front of him. But this woman, this brave, passionate woman, offers a danger that nothing has prepared Rio for. He knows her. They've never met, yet he knows her. He dreams of her body. Her scent. Her passion. But he has a secret that might send her running from him in terror if she realizes just what he is.

Rio isn't just a hunter.

He's an animal.

Blessed with the ability to shift shape into a large leopard, he's a man trapped between the world of humanity and beast. A man cast out from his own people.

The chemistry and destiny that lock Rachael and Rio together is amazing. They are strangers, yet they are destined mates. Perhaps they knew each other in another life, perhaps they met in dreams, I'll leave that to you to work out when you read the book for yourself. And I strongly recommend that lovers of shape shifter romances pick this novel up. The sex scenes are scorching, but don't dominate the book. The romance doesn't swamp the suspense aspects of the storyline. The ability to shift shape and how that is dealt with is deliciously written and leaves you wanting more.

Ms. Feehan has not disappointed in this beautifully written book.
