Wild Rice Organic Rice Cakes from Lundberg Family Farms

These Rice Cakes Were So Good, I was Glad I Tried Them

I have been planning on making the switch from organic brown rice to organic wild rice but I am finding that the transition has been somewhat difficult do on my grocery budget. I am still very hopeful that one day I will be getting organic wild rice on a regular basis but until then I will continue to enjoy the organic brown rice that I get. We have to get rice a lot because we use it in our bean dishes, veggie burgers and of course any dish that requires rice as a side dish, like stir-fry. With all this in mind, one would think that we could easily become rather bored with all this rice but that is not the case. I keep things interesting by changing up the brand and changing up the grain. Lately I have been getting all of my rice from one company, Lundberg Family Farms. In addition to trying a lot of their rices, I also tried a couple different varieties of their organic rice cakes.

The rice that I have been getting from the Lundberg company is their Organic Short Grain Brown Rice, Eco-Farmed Gluten Free Short Grain Brown Rice, Eco-Farmed California Brown Basmati Rice and their Organic Long Grain Brown Rice. In addition I have tried their Lightly Salted Organic Brown Rice Cakes and most recently their Wild Rice Organic Rice Cakes. This was the first time that I had tried anything that used wild rice as far as I could remember from the company. I was very excited about this but I wasn't sure how I would feel about the rice being in the form of a rice cake. While I liked the other rice cakes that I had by this company I wasn't convinced that I would like them enough to regularly get them. That all changed though when I tried one of the Wild Rice Organic Rice Cakes from Lundberg Family Farms.

After tasting the Wild Rice Organic Rice Cakes from Lundberg Family Farms I had a whole new opinion on their rice cakes. It was positively delicious, I couldn't believe it. I was so excited that I went ahead and decided to get a package. My son, who was teething the entire time that we had the wild rice cakes loved them a lot. I was concerned that he was going to fill up on them and not get a good amount of nutrition. While I thought that these rice cakes made with organic wild rice were delicious I wasn't sure what kind of nutrition that they would be offering. I was happy that my son found something that was consoling him during his toddler teething but I wanted to look over the nutrition before letting him have an unlimited amount of the rice cakes. Plus I would be disappointed if he ate up all of the rice cakes as I thought that they were really, really good too, even eating them plain was great.

The nutrition for one of the Wild Rice Organic Rice Cakes from Lundberg Family Farms was pretty okay, but nothing spectacular. There was only seventy calories in each organic wild rice cake with no calories from fat. The rice cakes were lightly salted but I was happy to see that the sodium content was only fifty-five milligrams and I was glad to see that they offered sixty-five milligrams of potassium in every rice cake. Lastly each rice cake offered fifteen grams of carbohydrates and one gram of protein. I could see why rice cakes are often something that you see people who are a diet eating, as they have a certain low number of calories and carbs, and they are somewhat filling. All this in mind I made sure that my son had something healthier before eating a rice cake and usually only gave him half of Wild Rice Organic Rice Cake from Lundberg Family Farms at a time.

When I saw the Wild Rice Organic Rice Cakes from Lundberg Family Farms in the grocery store they were on sale. The package oddly contained thirteen organic rice cakes and only cost us two dollars and twenty-nine cents. Seeing how expensive organic wild rice was I was very pleased with this cost and I didn't mind paying it again. I think that if I go to the grocery store and the sale is still on I will be inclined to get these rice cakes again. I am sure that I will get them in the future, both me and my son liked them just too much. I don't think that they will become something that we eat too regularly but definitely something that we will get from time to time. I would recommend for anyone to give the Wild Rice Organic Rice Cakes from Lundberg Family Farms a try.
