Wilderness Lodge Resort at Disney World

My Personal Opinion

We're going to soon be staying at this resort for our third time since 2003. We have turned into Disney addicts and love every Disney owned property that we have ever stayed in. Disney's Wilderness Lodge is HUGE! There are so many things to see, do, and try that you may just want to stop by and visit even if you're not staying here. There are two MAIN restaurants and a counter service restaurant. Also, in-room dining. Whispering Canyon is a casual, family type restaurant that does offer an all-you-can eat SKILLET or you have a choice of ordering off the menu. Be warned, that it does get a little loud at times as games and humor abound during your meal. Artist Point is there signature restaurant - I can't really give a review on that because I've never eaten there.

However, after reading many good reviews I have made a reservation for our stay in a few weeks. The Roaring Forks Cafe is the counter service restaurant and is your normal fast food Disney fare. The main pool is themed with another quiet pool not far away. We usually slip to the quiet pool if the main one is crowded. When you check-in you're given facts about the resort and a list of scheduled activities that you and your family can participate in. Last January, I took my daughter to several of the activities during our stay which were free to the guests. Examples, Cookie decorating, crafts at the club house, and crafts by the pool! She had a blast.

Most of the standard rooms overlook the service area. Many room views are available, standard, courtyard, woodsview, and they even have a Concierge Level. Also, they have boat service to the Magic Kingdom which is wonderful for anyone but especially if you have little ones - it's usually a direct route the only other stop is Ft. Wilderness camp ground.

The price- it's not that bad if you go during value season. Watch for a code or join AAA - savings can greatly reduce the cost of your stay. Also, if you have a travel agent ask them to keep checking room views if you're trying to keep your cost low. Sometimes people cancel and the cheaper rooms become available.
The resort also boasts a large Disney merchandise store and an arcade room. Great for when you head back to the resort early from the parks and still want something to do. Also, each night a lighted water parade can be viewed from the beach area of the resort.
You will feel at home at this resort and will be hurrying to return.
