Will Bret Michaels Replace Simon Cowell on American Idol?

Jamesyn Oakley
Talk of the town is that Bret Michaels is a possible candidate for replacing Simon Cowell on American Idol. Friday evening during his concert in Biloxi, Mississippi he told the audience "I can't say this is true yet, cause I don't know. Next year they asked me to possibly be the judge on 'American Idol.'" Wow, way to go Bret.

Personally I believe that Bret is perfect for the job. No, he won't be another Simon Cowell, but does American Idol really need another Simon? No one will ever be able to compare to Simon with his charming personality, so why try? If Fox executives try to replace him with a wannabe Simon, it just won't work. Maybe that's what American Idol needs right now. A fresh face and a new perspective.

Bret can bring a lot of expertise to American Idol. He has been the lead singer and songwriter with the band Poison for over 20 years, sold 25 million albums, had 15 top 40 hits, was a judge on Nashville Star in 2005 and that's just some of his music credentials. He is also an actor, writer, screen writer, producer and has been on several reality TV shows, the last one being Celebrity Apprentice which he won.

Michaels can also bring a whole new group of viewers to the show. Eighties and nineties rockers will have a reason to watch American Idol now. Plus it doesn't hurt that Michaels is easy on the eyes.

After Bret's recent health problems, I am so glad to see that he is back to singing and touring with his band. It was a wonderful surprise to see him perform "Every Rose Has Its Thorn" with Casey James on the American Idol finale. Maybe that's a good sign and hopefully we'll be seeing a lot more of Bret Michaels on American Idol.
