When Favre had thoughts of retirement, and differences of opinion with the Packers, it broke my heart. I knew it was most likely time to get ready for a new quarterback in Aaron Rodgers, but I knew I would miss Favre. I remember watching the ESPN press conference he gave, in tears, that it was time to move on.
To my shock and amazement, he began talk with several teams in the 2008 season and before I knew it, he was back in the game and now a NY Jet. Although I wasn't thrilled about the team choice, I cheered for Brett through every game. The amazement of his playing, keeps me entertained no matter what the circumstance.
As the 2008 season came to a close, finger pointing started by the Jets players, and Favre wasn't ready to make any decisions to his future. With Favre's shoulder surgery on the horizon, his future seemed uncertain.
In the months that have followed, talks have been stirring between Favre and the Minnesota Vikings. Until recently, nothing was confirmed, and appeared to be nothing more than a rumor. That is, until this week. According to USA Today, Favre has now stated he's been talking with the Vikings. He's practicing each day to see how well his shoulder is healing and stated that he's going to let the Vikings know his decision by July 30th, when the Vikings begin training camp.
For Packer and Viking fans alike, the idea that Favre could play for the Vikings brings up shock and wonder. Many Viking fans want Favre, others don't because he's always played against the Vikings and is a rival. Packer fans feel abandoned because he may be playing for the rival team, and then there is me. A Favre fan. I always feel like a game worth watching is any game that Favre plays in, but it's hard to come to terms with him in a Vikings jersey.
Whatever you decide Brett. We'll be behind you and cheering you all the way to the Football Hall of Fame!
