Will the Democratic Party Self Destruct?

The Democratic convention has come and gone, and Democrats remain uncertain the effect of people who voted for Hillary Clinton, many such supporters who are willing to support McCain. They call themselves Hillary Clinton supporters yet they refuse to follow her lead. Were they really supporters, or were they people who acted as a wedge, and now are jumping to the side they wanted to be anyway? My guess is that the answer is two-fold; 1) some will not vote for a black person to be president, 2) others were first time voters and independents, the most likely to jump ship.

The United States Constitution slowing being destroyed by the Republicans both right wing and the so called moderates, and Democrats. They continue to show their disrespect for that document and its prohibitions on ex post facto, double jeopardy, and the championing of due process in the laws.

Republicans have consistently portrayed Democrats as weak in the defense of this country, and as party that love taxing the average American, many who are being economically destroyed by both Republicans and Democrats, allowing America to be bought and sold to the highest foreign bidder.

In the years leading up to the Democratic convention Democrats have jumped on the excessive morals bandwagon of the ultra right, and in doing so destroying the lives of thousands of people who do not deserve the label of sex offender, from child to prepubescent, to teens, to early adults, to older adults, all to show ultra right evangelicals that they the Democrats are strong on values.

Value or values never truly defined as it is always in flux, but taking always taking in extremism with open arms.

It is hard to see Barack Obama as becoming president of the United States, if not first assassinated, a nation that is still full of racial bigots and race haters. Many people ove (tolerate) blacks as long as they are entertained by them as in; sports, music, and acting, but that is where that racial tolerance ends. A black man and his black family in that White House, having black friends coming and going, just too much for the bigot and the hardcore race hater to accept.

In the primaries many knew that republicans were voting in primaries that were for Democrats and Progressives, but being allowed to do so by the rules or laws of states permitting the mix. Many of us knew that the republicans wanted Barack Obama to win the primaries because they were betting on the Majority voting against him, and they are still making that bet. They also were betting on Democrats and so-called Democrats switching sides for this election for the fact that the Democratic choice would be a black man, something completely unacceptable to large numbers of the Majority, Democrat, Independent, conservative, and Libertarian, and all those groups in between.

Leading up to the Democratic convention we witnessed the division the Republicans were hoping on. Conquer and divide, they say that Republicans do it all the time, and that Democrats just can't seem to understand and counter the tactic, again proving themselves weak.

If I were a betting man I would bet that McCain has better than a 50% chance of becoming president even with his choice of Sarah Palin as Vice President, a bad joke at best, but one that will not sit well with the Republican machine. Obama and the Democratic machine behind him missing golden opportunities to show that Democrats can really fight for what they want, instead of being the ones that always roll over and play dead like an obedient dog, lest we be very surprised. We will have to wait and see.
