Will Dwight Freeney Play in Super Bowl XLIV?

Dwight Freeney has been the face and force of the Indianapolis Colts defense pass rush since he was selected as a rookie starter in 2002. The most important question may be if this 5-time Pro Bowler torn ligament in his right ankle will keep him from playing in Super Bowl XLIV? Modern medicine may not be enough to let Dwight Freeney play a complete 60 minutes, it may not even be enough for him to come back and play in this year Super Bowl. It may take more than modern medicine for this All-Pro Defensive End to play in Super Bowl XLIV; it may take his will power and driving desire to help his team win another championship title.

Dwight Freeney will not be the first defensive end that faced an injury that could possibly sideline him from playing in Super Bowl XLIV. The reported injury happened in the last few minutes of the Colts Divisional Playoff game against the New York Jets. It was somewhat of a freak accident, as one of his own players made an unfortunate impact against his right ankle. The replay pictures will also show Freeney stumbling away as the Colts clearly had the game wrapped up to proceed as winners of their division, owning the right to appear in another Super Bowl in less than five years.

The New Orleans Saints players and Head Coach Sean Payton are well aware of Dwight Freeney's ankle injury, and this may be the reason why the Saints coaching staff will make adjustments just in case Freeney does not play in Super Bowl 2010. The Colts organization have given all of the details about Dwight Freeney's injury, only time will tell if this report is a little trickery on the Colts part, a scheme to side track the Saints players from achieving their ultimate goal.
