Will Ellen DeGeneres's Christmas Giveaways Replace Oprah's Give-O-Ways?

Christmas is fast approaching and this marks the last of Oprah Winfrey's Favorite Things Give-O-Ways, at least in theory as her show will end its run this year. Oprah Winfrey's Christmas show is one of the hottest things going during the first of December. She also has a contest in connection with her magazine, where viewers can enter to win some of the favorite things in a sweepstakes.

This may be the last year for all of the excitement surrounding Oprah Winfrey and her Give-O-Way. However, I have found that there is already a great program in place to take over the madness that surrounds the Give-O-Way. Ellen DeGeneres has her own 12 Days of Giveaways, and honestly, there are some things about The Ellen DeGeneres Show and her giveaways program I like more the Oprah's Give-O-Way.

While Oprah may give better gifts, such as a cruise or a car to her audience, Ellen DeGeneres spreads the joy around to a wider audience. Ellen DeGeneres 12 Days of Giveaways is spread over 12 days for members of the studio audience. Fans can also log onto her website and enter to win prizes as well. As Ellen's theme song states, "Let's have a little fun today." Ellen DeGeneres show is fun-pure entertaining fun while Oprah's show often takes a serious tone, though I do enjoy Oprah's interviews. Those interviews are in their own class of entertainment.

Thus far for 2010, Ellen DeGeneres's gifts include an All-Floor Vacuum System, digital camera, a Vitamix blender, a Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant Phone with three months of service, a color Nook, and more and it is just two days into the giveaways.

With Oprah Winfrey gearing up to start her own network in January, as well as the opportunity to enter through the O, The Oprah Magazine, I am sure there will be some form of the Give-O-Way in the years to come. The Give-O-Ways will probably be just as extravagant as on the show, just delivered in a different way.

It may be just me, but when I watched Oprah's Give-O-Way, Oprah seemed tired, like she had done it too many times. It was actually more fun watching the studio audiences reaction and to know that there were paramedics standing by in case someone was overcome.

Personally, I am just as happy sit back and "have a little fun today" with Ellen DeGeneres as she sprinkles the joy and gift giving around to more people and has such fun doing it.

I only caught the first day of Ellen's giveaways, but I definitely agree! I used to be an avid Oprah follower, but in recent years, I've come to love Ellen's upbeat nature more. And spreading out the gifts across a few audiences and online? I think that's more exciting than one REALLY lucky audience.
