Will Hollywood Remake Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York?
Can Hollywood Help Disgraced Duchess of York Sarah Ferguson?
Fergie, despite past brushes with bad etiquette for being a bit too honest, brash or even "common", now is at the lowest point of her public life. She told Oprah she's been "laid bare", that life's problems, and her debt put her in the "gutter." Buying this self described emotional trauma - from one who lives in a royal palace with two princess daughters - may still be too much for many to swallow, but it's clear the Duchess is in truly dire circumstances to attempt such base shenanigans. So it's with this sorry state of affairs that Hollywood must work with and exploit. As they say, everyone loves an underdog - in her case an 'underduchess.'
As American actress Kirstie Alley prances about yapping on her ballooning weight in reality shows, Sarah Ferguson could land a prime time reality show. Alley and Ferguson even share waistline watching, since both have weight problems in common. Kirstie Alley acted as spokesperson for Jenny Craig, while Weight Watchers used Sarah, Duchess of York for years as a celebrity face. Alley turned her weight woes into the television show Kirstie Alley's Big Life. Can Sarah Ferguson do likewise?
We watch reality shows about burly bounty hunters - Dog: The Bounty Hunter - about dieting fat actresses, about Keeping Up With The Kardashians. Honestly, I still have no idea who those gals even are, but they have a hit TV show. If both Hollywood and Sarah Ferguson were smart, they'd join forces and strike while the iron is hot. The Duchess of York admits she's so much in debt, it was primary cause of her falling for the financial sting. She's hurting, she's vulnerable, and needs money desperately. Often, people we crown reality show stars also find themselves at a time in life where they'll trade in privacy for bags of cold hard cash. Maybe it's time Sarah Ferguson negotiate in a Hollywood studio meeting room, instead of some hotel room. She should ask TV producers for money for something she can truly deliver - herself - warts and all.

Post a CommentI like Fergie for some reason. I hope she pulls out of this. I always liked that she was the outspoken one.
Proof positive that money and power aren't all they are cracked up to be!
Fergie's fall was sad to hear about. No matter how low I fell or how much debt was piling up, I doubt I'd sell my self-esteem at any cost. cheers :)
I like reality TV but I don't think I would watch her for some reason.
Interesting take on something that I, well, frankly, don't really care about. However I'll keep an eye out for the ads for the (probably) soon to be produced show(s) about her.
I'm not sure a whole reality show would be proper, but maybe a limited series or something. She has such experiences about being with the royals - hanging out in that world most have no clue about. Seeing her talk about it as an insider could be engaging. She definitely needs to do something.
