Will Internet Week in New York Bring Significant Changes to the Internet?

Will Internet Week in New York bring about significant changes in the next year? For anyone who uses the internet regularly, such as I do, there becomes an awareness of change. One example is the rapid growth of Web 2.0. From the birth of informative websites, we have seen the expansion into a world where the page viewer has the opportunity to do more than absorb the content. We are in the age where the Internet user enjoys the ability to be interactive with websites.

Blogging and Social Networking sites have been growing in rapid numbers. I feel that this area is going to continue to show tremendous growth over the next year following Internet Week in New York. Blogs and Social Networking sites are about people and what people are interested in. There are web sites available, such as Associated Content, where all of the growing trends of getting media published are combined in a most innovative way. Since Associated Content has a proven successful format, several imitators have been showing up vying for content.

Blogs started fairly simple. One person started writing down their thoughts using a new simple method to enter text into a publishable format. All of a sudden they were published. They had a web presence and a voice to the world. The person did not have to know any coding. Simple blogging has grown into Video Blogging, and Audio Blogging as technology has grown fast to accommodate these new formats. With the Social Networking sites a person does not even have to host a domain name or know any coding at all.

Improvements in technology are going to keep growing at the fast pace that people now expect. The use of blogs and social networking is going to continue to shrink the world. We are going to be able to learn from people who might not have had a "voice" before. I am witnessing this already as I see trends in people who use the social networking sites and create blogs encompassing a more diverse field. Blogs now have the ability to be translated in several languages making accessibility even greater. The translator tool bar is on several of the top rated blogs.

In closing it is my belief that more and more people will be heard as they discover how easy it is to use technology for blogging, and social networking. New York is on the cutting edge of advancing global communication by the use of technology. By hosting Internet Week in New York, the people of the world will take notice. Over the next year more and more people will be heard by typing, or the use of video, or audio, or by importing other visual media. People from all areas of the world are going to become published content producers.
