Will Kate Gosselin Flop as ET Host for "DWTS"?
Uh oh, Katezilla's back, this time as a host for "Entertainment Tonight" -- Kate Gosselin will be a "Dancing With The Stars" correspondent from Monday through Wednesday, announced MSN Entertainment on May 17. And sure enough, the MSN message board is filling up rapidly with outcries from people about why, once again, Kate Gosselin has landed a high paying job behind the camera.
It may be a smart move by the executives of "Entertainment Tonight" to bring Kate Gosselin, infamous mother of twins and sextuplets, to the show, because this will spike ratings. Much of the protesting that's showing up on MSN's message board concerns who's going to watch Kate Gosselin's kids while she's away filming.
These same critics insist that Kate Gosselin should "stay home" with her children. When there is a two-parent household, I believe that one of the parents should have NO MORE than a part time job outside the house. In Kate's case, this is not possible because she's a single mother. However, I am critical as to where she came up with the $7,000 to pay for those hair extensions; this is a focal point for Gosselin's critics, because if she can afford this, then she can't be hurting too much for money.
But I believe that the money for the hair extensions came from somewhere else, not Gosselin. Before you accuse me of being pro-Kate, check out my hoard of Kate bashing articles, HERE!
I don't support Kate Gosselin. What I DO support is a woman's desire to be on TV, even if she has many young kids. Had Angelina Jolie taken a gig with "Entertainment Tonight," few people would protest this, even though she has seven young kids. In fact, Jolie continues to be in front of the camera, and I wonder where all those critics are who think that a woman should "stay home" with the kids.
Though Jolie is married, I doubt that her husband Brad Pitt is a full-time daddy while Mum is away filming, or half way around the globe visiting impoverished children for publicity. Reportedly, Jolie and Pitt have SEVEN nannies! Where's all the outcry over this?
What about other female movie stars and entertainers who have young kids? Nobody's slamming THEM for choosing a career in front of a camera.
Kate Gosselin allegedly has $20,000 a month in child support coming to her, and critics use this as an argument against her being on TV. Are you kidding? Though there may be a court order for $20,000 a month in child support, whom do you think is paying this? Deadbeat Jon?

Post a CommentAdd: (Conc.) It's sick to enjoy watching her make him miserable since he has never done a d*mn thing to her. These are the kind of things one knows through intuition and good judgment. Another thing intuition should tell you is that Kate has no control over what footage is aired. ABC is paying her. They also pay Dovolani; he doesn't work for Kate. And ABC owns the camera, and the film in it. J&K+8 is OVER. Things are different now. The ILLUSION is over. Kate does NOT "know better than her theatrics will not win over viewers". There is a WHOLE LOT Kate doesn't know. She's an idiot. Remember she said, "That doesn't teach me everything I need to know"? That was her freaking out over being an idiot. I'm not going to say she's ugly, but aren't you making a big deal out of her "glammed up" look? You must be in love with her.
Add to my previous concerns the following statement: "It was more interesting to watch Kate and Dovolani banter, than it was to watch other pairs completely and smoothly get along with each other." Again, your perspective is way off base. As much as you think the "banter" (wrong word for it) makes for "interesting" TV, one of the people involved is a talented, accomplished professional. I realize that he gets paid to work with whatever contestant he is assigned, but job satisfaction is important to an individual too. Dovolani deserves job satisfaction as much as any professional who has worked hard and paid their dues for something they love, and Kate is ROBBING him of it. If she can't or won't do what she signed up to do, she could AT LEAST try to have fun -- not act like a b*tch. The 80 yr. old man on the show can't dance, either, but at least he is not a mean, grouchy, old *ssh*le with his instructor. It is not "interesting" to watch someone make someone else MISERABLE! It's sick.

"I'm surprised she allowed this footage to be aired" No offense, but I'm surprised you published this article. It is too rudimentary, like Kate's dancing. I'm guessing either your intuition is poorly developed, or your love for Kate is over-developed. That you think Kate had a choice in that footage being aired tells me your perspective of this show you are "reviewing" is way off kilter. Kate lovers often make the mistake of trying to RATIONALIZE their FEELINGS -- two things that don't go together. On message boards all over the web, they inappropriately join in with rational adults who are discussing the issues and controversy, and it is pure torture to read the looney things Kate lovers say. They should just write about what is really going on with them, instead -- their love for Kate. If you're madly in love with Kate, you should just write about that
You are way kinder than I was after watching her. I reeeeally dont like Kate, never have, but I wanted her to do well. I want everyone to do well. Kate's hair and dress were just horrible. The pink barbie doll thing just didnt do it for me. I know she wants to be tasteful for her kids' sake but she doesnt have to look like her daughters' play dolls. She needs to look her age, and at least try to be sexy. (She had nice arms though!) I feel like her personality really reflected in her dancing...uptight and anal. She really needs to chill and relax and have fun. This is why she is such an unhappy person. It's written all over her face...ALL THE TIME. Even when she co-hosts 'The View', her facial expressions, smiles, are just fake. Even when she should be genuinely happy, her smile is fake. It's painful and sad to watch.
