Born in Bedford, New Jersey, he showed excellent promise at Middletown High School South with 6,268 total rushing yards and 128 touchdowns making him New Jersey's all-time leading scorer. His sophomore season as a Bulldog was a great year for him with eighteen touchdowns and a total of 1,792 total offense yards earning him the offense MVP for his team which followed on the heels of an outstanding freshman year. As a freshman he earned the honor of SEC Freshman of the Year, featured tailback on the Freshman All American team, All SEC Freshman and SEC All Freshman. He was also the Sporting News' Freshman Offensive Player of the Year. Apparently all his hard just may pay off for him in the draft.
If Knowshon Moreno has his choice he'd like to be drafted by the New York Jets in the 2009 NFL draft. The 5'11', currently 217 lb. running back earned a few awards during his time spent at the University of Georgia. Since he was redshirted in 2006, this former running back for the Georgia Bulldogs is foregoing his final two years at UG to head to the 2009 NFL draft with his sights on New York. Whether that is where he ends up or not remains to be seen.
There is a consensus that he will be drafted probably in the mid-first round of picks and as reported by Chris Steuber for Scout.com as their NFL draft analyst, Knowshon could be heading for the Chargers who hold the 16th pick so long as the Broncos bypass him in the 12th. Since New York has the 17th pick, he could likely not last that long to get where he wants, but we can always keep our fingers crossed for him.
