I was able to talk to former NBA player and coach Paul Silas, yesterday. On my day job I sometimes come into contact with a few sports celebrities who live in North Carolina. Coach Silas is by far the friendliest famous person I have met and is always willing to talk a little basketball with me.
Coach Silas played from 1964 until 1980 and coached for 10 seasons and had a 355 and 400 record as a head coach in the NBA. What was interesting to me was that Coach Silas was LeBron James coach for two seasons in Cleveland.
When I expressed my distaste for the LeBron James ESPN show when he left Cleveland and called James an egomaniac Coach Silas has this to say. "LeBron had a little bit of an ego but may have been ill advised on how to handle his free agency" Coach Silas was quick to point out that James raised a lot of money for the Boys and Girl Club of America.
Coach Silas when on to say (paraphrasing here) that Miami would be very good in the regular season. And that he wanted to see how the team would handle adversity in the playoffs. Coach Silas said that Boston and Orlando were better this year and that there were still the Lakers for the Heat to contend with in their NBA title hopes.
LeBron James, Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh make a formable trio and the Miami Heat will be a good team to be sure. I am just not sure the egos can take a back seat to winning a team game. I do tend to think that the Miami Heat will win a NBA title and that it will probably be this year.
I also think the Miami Heat will have some exciting playoff games on their title run. Every team in the NBA will be gunning for the Heat. Everybody will want to beat this new dream team
LeBron James wants to go down as the best NBA player in history. He isn't even on my list of the top five NBA players of all time, but he may make the list if I update it. LeBron James, Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh will look like ego idiots if they don't win an NBA title and will be scorned by press and the fans.
Despite that pressure or because of it, I think the Miami Heat will win the NBA Championship this season. There is too much talent on this team for them not to barring injuries.
