Will Life Be Worse for Hugh Hefner's Fiance Crystal Harris After the Wedding?

Hugh Hefner's bride-to-be Crystal Harris might seem lucky in the eyes of someone like Holly Madison, but could life actually be worse for the Playboy playmate once she's Hef's bride? Based on a playmate's description of the crusty inside of the Playboy mansion and a look back at the end of Hugh Hefner's first marriage, being married to him might be worse than being one of a gaggle of girlfriends.

Many moons ago in 1949, Hugh Hefner married his first wife, Mildred Pierce. However, he divorced her in 1959 when she revealed to him that she'd been having an affair while he was in the Army. I'm no psychology student like bride-to-be Crystal Harris, but it seems that this betrayal could have a lot to do with how Hugh Hefner would later treat women, dating multiple girlfriends (with a high turnover rate) at once; having sex with multiple women at once; and ensuring that his girlfriends couldn't go astray with strict rules, including a curfew.

According to a Daily Mail article, while the Playboy mansion might be a glamorous place for male celebrities like Charlie Sheen to visit, it's often far from fun for Hugh Hefner's girlfriends and sex partners. Izabella St. James, one of Hugh Hefner's many ex-girlfriends, describes the Playboy mansion as having dirty carpets, smelling like dog urine, and being full of tastelessly-decorated bedrooms. Hugh Hefner had twice-weekly sex parties in his bedroom (which evidently doubled as a doggie bathroom), and girlfriends would be scolded for not participating when collecting their weekly allowance of $1,000. But while he was so keen on them participating in the sex parties, Izabella St. James describes the Viagra-popping playboy as being as lively as a "dead fish".

Kimberly Conrad, Hugh Hefner's first wife, made the decision to split with Hugh Hefner in 1998. So was it because of his strict rules? She wouldn't give a reason, but their supposedly monogamous relationship was followed with Hugh Hefner dating seven girls at once (perhaps replacing on woman with so many was a further testimony to the insecurity the end of his first marriage caused). Kimberly Conrad continued to visit the Playboy mansion with her sons after the split, but, despite her acceptance of Hugh Hefner's new girlfriends, she describes him as not being able to stomach her bringing a boyfriend to a Playboy party she was invited to.

So has Crystal Harris managed to use what she learned as a psychology student to manipulate Hef by using his insecurities to her advantage? If she doesn't currently have some sort of control over Hugh Hefner, being in a monogamous relationship might be extremely difficult. Crystal Harris will be the only girl that has to put up with his strict rules and sex nights, after all, and he might expect her to always be at his beck and call. So while she'll have more space being the only bird willing to stay in the cage, she might lose a little more of her freedom.
