Will Medical Marijuana Facilities in Ferndale Really Affect Residents?

I spent a day this weekend asking Ferndale residents how the medical marijuana facilities would affect them. During this day, I was able to talk to a little over 100 residents of Ferndale, and I ended up being very surprised by the outcome of the mini-investigation.

While some (15) were concerned about crime increasing once the medical marijuana facilities went into full business, the majority could not state at all how they would be directly affected. A large number (48) stated that as long as people followed the rules, the allowing of medical marijuana facilities in Ferndale would not affect them at all.

A concerned gentleman that I spoke to stated that he was very worried about the medical marijuana facilities in Ferndale. He saw reports on TV about businesses in other cities that had been broken into that sold medical marijuana supplies, and he did not want that crime in Ferndale.

One person stated that she was welcoming the medical marijuana facilities as they would at least be taking up space in Ferndale and paying taxes. She believed that any company that was going to be paying taxes in the city was fine by her standards.
