Giving your dog the right kind of food is very important to keep it healthy and strong. Although there may be a lot of dog foods that you can find in the supermarket, it is not always advisable to dry feed your dog everyday with those commercially prepared dog food. For one thing, you do not really know what chemicals are in that dog food and you could not really be sure what side effects that food will have on your dog. Dogs are just like human beings who could eventually get sick after eating at the fast food restaurant all the time.

To keep your dog healthy and strong, you should make sure that you feed your dog some natural food every now and then. Cook something special for your dog on weekends or whenever you have time to prepare something special for your dog. Note that just like human beings, dogs also love some variations on its diet.

Preparing natural food for your dog

Preparing natural food for your dog, make sure that you use only fresh ingredients. The downside of natural food is that the ingredients thereof would spoil easily. Once the ingredients are already spoiled, the natural food could be toxic for your dog. To ensure that you only get the best ingredients for your dog's food, shop for the ingredients on the day when you intend to prepare the natural food. Make sure that you get only the fresh ingredients from the supermarket.

Your dog will need to have a balance diet to stay healthy. When coking for your dog, make sure that what you are preparing has all the nutrients that your dog needs. Also, you dog need some anti-oxidants to help keep free radicals from destroying the healthy cells in its body. Good sources for anti-oxidants are bright orange and dark green vegetables. Now, you dog may not really love vegetables the moment it will see those bright orange and dark green thing in its food dish so it would be a good idea to cook the vegetables in such a way that your dog will not really notice that it is already eating vegetables.

When preparing for dog treats such as cookies and biscuits, it would be a good idea to cook these treats in batches. Prepare separate jars for each batch of treats and seal in the cookies or biscuits inside to keep it fresh. Open the jars one at a time so that each jar will stay fresh.
