Will the Philadelphia Eagles Trade Donovan McNabb in 2010?

Alfonso Coley
The inevitable lingering question that has been the hot talk of the town in the Philadelphia metro area is will the Philadelphia Eagles organization trade Donovan McNabb for a 2010 draft pick, or will they release him on contract waiver clauses? It seems that the Philadelphia Eagles organization has become impatient within their quest in obtaining a Super Bowl Championship. The fans of Philadelphia seem to be split about how they feel about Donovan McNabb, or just maybe their impatience has become a hasty resolve in seeking a new QB for the 2010 season.

The Philadelphia Eagles 2009 season fell short when they lost their Wild Card game to their divisional foe - the Dallas Cowboys, the final score was Dallas 34 - Philadelphia 14. This loss would prove to be a very bittersweet loss for the Philadelphia Eagles, and become somewhat of a burden to Donovan McNabb in the off-season.

The nagging question that has been lingering over Donovan McNabb's head - is can he finally win the big one for the Eagles organization?

The Philadelphia Eagles organization trade rumors of releasing Donovan McNabb have been intensifying within the last two weeks, some are false rumors appearing with no validation, and there have been two confirmed reports that this trade or release may come to light.

Donovan McNabb has been the pride and face of the Philadelphia Eagles organization since taking over the starting QB position in 1999. Coach Andy Reid should take some notes from Mike Shanahan about preserving some patience concerning the release of their star QB. In comparrison of their coaching style, Mike Shanahan knew what he had in John Elway, and in the end his coaching patience and knowledge of the game paid off for the Denver Broncos, their city, and their reputation, as they won two Super Bowls at the end of Elway's career.

Donovan McNabb has all of the tools in place to take the Philadelphia Eagles to the next level, his young receiving corp. are well in tune with McNabb's reads and playmaking ability. It may be a very foolish decision to release McNabb due to unwavering pressure from Philadelphia fans and owner Jeffrey Lurie's thirst to obtain what the Philadelphia Eagles have been longing for so many years, a Super Bowl Championship.
