Roger Waters to Perform the Wall on Tour

Will Pink Floyd reunite? Bassist, co-founder, and lyricist Roger Waters is planning to tour and perform the bands classic album "The Wall" in its entirety on a world tour slated for 2010 and 2011. However, there are several rumors of a possible Pink Floyd reunion, which would be the first time the band has reunited since a one off reunion for Live 8 on July 2, 2005. It would also be the first time since the band's keyboardist Richard Wright died in 2008.

Ultimateguitar.com reported drummer Nick Mason was in favor of reuniting with Roger Waters back in February of 2008. Mason was quoted as stating "I am absolutely up for it" and "it's down to David (Gilmour) now." In a recent interview with the Associated Press Roger Waters squashes some of those reports. On an April 29th post Rogerwaterstours.com quotes Roger as stating "David is completely disinterested in anything like that" when Waters was asked about a Pink Floyd reunion. Waters continued "after Live 8, I could have probably gone for doing some more stuff."

In 2008 MSNBC.com quotes David Gilmour as stating "I think I can fairly categorically say that there won't be a tour or an album again that I take part in" in regard to a Pink Floyd reunion. Gilmour continue to state "It's just that I've done that. I've been there, I've done it." However, Gilmour has not ruled out another one time gig. In May of 2008 the guitarist said "I haven't absolutely said 'no' to the possibility but I think that in reality any sort of long-term thing together is not going to happen" in regards to a Pink Floyd reunion.

Pink Floyd fans did not think Pink Floyd would reunite in 2005, and they were pleasantly surprised. Perhaps the right situation will occur in the future for the band to reunite. Perhaps Pink Floyd will never reunite. In the main time fans will be able to catch Roger Waters and a cast of wonderful musicians perform the band's famous album "The Wall" later this year and into 2011. Another rumor has "The Wall" going to Broadway and performed as a musical like The Who's Tommy.

I wouldn't be surprised if Nick shows up and guests on some of the Wall shows. I doubt David will, however. Still, I'm planning on checking out several of the shows this fall...
