But let us not be fooled by these mid-term election results and be lulled back into a state of things will be handled properly. We must keep in mind at the end of the day Pelosi, Reid, Conyers are politicians...not to be confused with leaders. Politicians make deals that are not always in the best interest of the people at large, but to save their own political faces. Leaders are willing to stand up for what is greatly believed to be right and wrong and to admit when they have done something wrong. Pelosi, has stated that "this will be the most ethical Congress in history" such a statement from the very woman that stated there would be no impeachment of Bush not to long ago on 60 Minutes.
I'm not trying to be a party pooper, but let us not deal in fantasy. We now have the players most of us have wanted in office for quit some time. But understand there will be democratic scandals that will be magnified more so than any of the Republican scandals. Yes, the Democrats have to be goody-two shoes at this point sad but true. You cannot be the most "ethical Congress in history" whence you cannot predict the next 2 through 6 years.
Also don't be fooled by the assumption that every democrat is going to vote within party lines, many of the Republican bills were supported by huge numbers of Democrats. Indeed, what has happened is you did not get many liberals in office two days ago, but a good number of Democratic Conservatives. Now I know that term may be hard to come to grips with but go back and look at the voting records of many of the majority now in power. With some issues such as the war, immigration, health care, budgets, you will find a good number of Democrats that aligned themselves with Republicans.
Like I have been saying all along, really both are on the same team people just do not realize that fact. The last time we had true divides between what is Republican and Democrat, we had a man named Abe in the White House. There are many Americans that do not agree with "Amnesty plan" of the Democrats and the President surprisingly enough. I should know I'm one of them. Also, let it be said that now since Democrats have control of both Houses of Congress. THERE CAN BE NO EXCUSES....NONE. If there is then you might as well shut up and sit down and swallow it when someone has defended the GOP. Because it will be coming from the same barrel of shit except one flavor is chicken the other beef.
The Democrats have a long list of work in front of them but they are not insurmountable. The first thing which they must do is raise minimum wage effective immediately, second, followed by they taking at least east a 20% pay cut each as to lead by example, third, bring the troops home while trying to figure out a new strategy. Fourth, don't give people amnesty for breaking the law, but then make the path to citizenship easier. Fifth, Redo every single budget and balance the damned thing and pay off the national debt. This order you can re rank any way you'd like but these are the top 5.
The time for celebration of the last two days is now over. Monday morning is around the corner ladies and gentleman in this republic, and there is no sense in getting carried away over fanfare emotion. But I heed this steep warning to anyone whom thinks because both houses are controlled by the "left" that everything shall be better. "Absolute power corrupts absolutely"...no one party should ever be in charge forever, and it will come to pass when the GOP will have their shots again and in control. The question is will Democrats leave a mark of minimal excellence, or maximum failure?
To be continued in 2008, and 2012.....hope to see you there richer, wiser, and smarter.

Yeah, I wasn't all that thrilled when I heard about the Democratic party gaining more seats. Hell, just because the label was there doesn't mean progress will be made. For example, we wouldn't think a sista would be shoe-shopping during Hurricane Katrina but indeed, Condoleeza Rice was trying on heels while folks were floating in water and starving. I read Obama's latest read "Audacity of Hope" and his explanation of the filibuster dilemma showed me just how slanted the Republicans can be when they want their way, and how society works for them.
