According to the Associated Press, the good Reverend also has 335 education centers, 200 pastors, 287 radio programs, and a 24-hour Spanish language TV network that reaches approximately 2-million homes.
"I am the Second Coming of Christ, that messiah they've been waiting for," de Jesus has said.
Just last month, the Reverend was in the news when some of the parishioners in Miami, Florida decided to go to a local tattoo parlor and brand themselves with a '666". Normally, the symbol of "666" is seen in the Book of Revelation as the sign of the Antichrist. However, the Reverend and his followers have adopted the set of numbers as their connection to a "new gospel". This new gospel is supposedly one without Satan or sin.
The Reverend had recently preached on the subject of the Antichrist stating the all Growing in Grace members are Antichrists since they "reject mainstream Christianity's lies and promotion of guilt".
The good Reverend, who is a former heroin addict, displays expensive jewelry, clothing, and cars while some of the members of the church give up to half of their earning to "Jesus". Most of the members of his flock are Hispanic and some think the Reverend is using his heritage to take advantage of these people.
So how does something like this happen? "People are credulous," said the Rev. Lowell Streiker, a California-based United Church of Christ minister.
Streiker, who has counseled cult members and their families, has also counseled former member of the People's Temple. They were a famous church in 1978 that was comprised of numerous members and lead by the Reverend Jim Jones. Jones, who was big into drugs, performed a mass murder/suicide in South America in 78, thus claiming the lives of approximately 900 parishioners.
Normally, those that claim they are Christ tend to be very confident and charismatic, and also know their Bible verses of Christ's second coming inside and out. They use this information to get people to see them as somewhat of a prophetic figure. They also tend to speak of divine inspiration such as in De Jesus' case where he has said he has been visited by both Jesus and angels.
Most people that follow a cult come to believe the information given by the Reverend because the message he is giving is constant. They tend to make such fantastic claims and then spin it to where these fantasies seem to be more of a reality. Streiker has stated that some of these members tend to be "disillusioned with their former churches", mostly because "the hypocrisy they see in leaders who preach morality, then sleep with the church organist or steal from the offering plate."
The church that is headed by De Jesus also has a website which prominently shows a picture of the good Reverend and his rather large diamond and gold ring, watch, and expensive suit. He hosts a live webcast on Wednesdays and has also been featured on local and national news agencies.

Post a CommentNone of this has ever been real. It's simply just an elaborate way to inflict beliefs and laws.(Control by zealots) Man has control problems!
If god created man in his image he would be an ape.Or farther back sea organisms.(not fish)
Why did Jesus not teach anyone the world is round? This whole other part of the earth which was inhabited lay undiscovered until year 1492.
And why no mention in the bible(or anywhere else) of the other 7 million + species of modern man's distant relatives which lead to today's
(humanis robustus)? And of course no mention of neanderthal, another species of human, not related to us.People up until only like
200 years ago thought the earth was only 4000 years old.We all should know by now that it is actually much, much older.
So no this man is not god, christ or the antichrist. Just a man. But who gave this guy his power god or man? MAN!!!
God is something no one can ever comprehend.Or ever has.Just control freaks with abusive, sadistic, oppressive intent.
jose luis is doing this for the money, he was poor and had nothing and now he's driving an expensive car and $40,000 rolex. My JESUS CHRIST is not a show-off,he loves me and I love him with all of my heart, people like jose is sick and may he go to hell.
Apparently, this Jesus may be in trouble with the law, or soon will be...

Thanks for all of the great comments. It's definitely apparent that this guy is nucking futs. It's just sad that he's taking advantage of so many people, whether they are stupid or not. And Daniel, that was great! I thought about that too. How could he be Jesus if Jesus spoke to him before? Loved the q-tip comment. It's pretty sad when someone like me (not a Christian) thinks this guy is basically a menace and should be taken down a notch or two. I guess I don't like seeing stupid or innocent people being robbed.
Something was nagging me when I finished reading this article. Nagged at me and nagged at me. I finally came back and read again...he says he has been spoken to by Jesus? Well, if that aint the quick-outta-the-way-I-gotta-go-give-it-all-away-shine-a-light-on-the-truth-tell-all-shoulda-kept-his-mouth-shut-quicker-fact... if he's Jesus...? Who is it that he said has spoken to him???? Duh. I can hear him now, "Shut-up, VOICES!! Or I'll poke you with another q-tip!!"
Sick stuff, man. It's crazy. I mean especially branding 666 on yourself. I mean damn...
These people are synonymous with the Klan setting crosses on fire. Bunch of nut-jobs!
Very timely subject and put well, glad to see you being so honest about the past cultics, Jones was a horror that we don't need repeated anytime soon. Great writing as you took a touch subject and made even someone as dense as me get it. Way to go!
I heard this on the news. I just don't see how people fall for stuff like this. Jesus didn't have a big ole fancy church and beg for money and tatoos before, why would he now? Great Article
Hey cant blame the guy for trying and if they believe him then they are the dumb ones, I myself need some proof maybe if he can turn Pres. Bush into an intelligent life form then I might be a follower
Truly, courageous wrting. The real JC only spoke of his affiliation to the father in the affirmative self proclaimed way on "ONE OCCASION" Just once in all of the scriptural works. That is in the gospel according to Mark 14:61-62. That is the ONLY time he himself affirms who he was. On every other occasion it is an inference, suggestion, or a comment by another party.
We can know it by it's works. He said that too.
