Will the Rodney Harrison HGH Scandal Show Patriots True Colors?
The Patriots Only Want "Character" Guys Right?
This question was partially answered in the off season when the Patriots went out and got the anti-character Randy Moss. Moss fits on the Patriots team like a triple cheeseburger. It might taste good while you are eating it, but you know it is going to kill you one day. Whatever Moss brings to the table with his considerable talent will be off set by his attitudes and character flaws. Don't get me wrong.....I understand the talent argument, and I certainly can see why Moss can help the Patriots, but the Patriots have won over the years because of NOT having these types of players. The egos on this team was such that they were one on the field. His talent will help in the short term, but his ego will kill over time. The Patriots, above all others, should understand that.
Now we are getting the headlines that Rodney Harrison has admitted to using HGH and will serve a 4 game suspension from the NFL. This is a guy that is over the hill a bit, though still a very hard hitter and quality safety. Should the Patriots punish him as well? They should, and probably would have in times past. Today's Patriots will not. Mark my words, Rodney Harrison will be back on the field after his suspension, and in the starting line up. Harrison will give up four games, but how many games was other teams cheated out of during his HGH days? Countless are possible, and it is sickening. I wonder what the Patriots will do about it? Remember, they only want "character" guys.
This is a call out to the Patriots. If they truly want to set the standard, they have to make some tough decisions. Who they choose to add to the team, and what those players do in the name of the Patriots is a big deal. The Patriots understood that for a while, and maybe they still do. Let us give them the benefit of the doubt, and see what happens with Harrison. We all know what the answer will be. It is a bit sad, as it may be the beginning of the end of a classy franchise.

Post a CommentActually, acquiring Randy Moss for a fourth-round pick was a brilliant move and classic Patriots style. It's actually not that different from the Pats acquiring Corey Dillon, who was also branded a "troublemaker" in Cincinnati (when really he was just tired of losing). Fortunately, the Patriots didn't listen to the hype, they make decisions based on facts, and the fact was Dillon was a great player with a desire to win. With Moss, the Patriots knew they were getting a phenomenal player and they must have gotten enough first-hand information about his true character to feel confident he would fit in with the team. And as this season has proved, Moss is a perfect fit.
rodney will be back..just like bonds still plays..Name one sports that drugs doesnt come into..its the way of life today..and its funny Pats caught taping BUT not one writer even mention that Miami did it last yr was caught and even admitted doing it.BUT knock PATS.seems since A pATS player admitted using something Right away He is a BAD person..what he took ISNT on NFL list.Isnt being tested for...I give Him credit for admitting it and taking his suspension as a Professional.and now its coming out that OTHER NFL players are in that same DIST ATT list....Not too mention MBL/NHL its a wide spread problem we have in ALL SPORTS...and in all aspects of life..what Vick did was wrong meaning he shouldnt have lied about it..But wonder how many Players in all sports bet on the Dogs???.Have I? if I said yes would u call me dirty?..so I bet on the dogs big deal...dog racing...But nothing is done too those owners after those dogs stop racing..NO!!!! they are killed..why? because they arnt good
Nicely written.
Great article Rodney, you are a class act!
Another good article.
Isn't Rodney H. an old Charger player? That would make him ancient, in NFL years! I learn something about writing and football with every article you write!
Just as informative and well-written as ever! :-)
