No one in Utah has been prosecuted for felony bigamy in the last fifteen years. But, that is probably because most of the time polygamists stay out of the public view. Most polygamists seem to understand that it is a felony. Then Kody Brown comes along. Kody Brown does not seem to care that he is committing a felony and he is flaunting it not only in the face of law enforcement, but also to the entire country.
The law in Utah states that one cannot be married or living with someone as if they are married, when they are already married to another person. Just having commitment ceremonies is not going to protect Kody Brown from the law.
If the prosecutors can prove that he is living with other women 'as if they are married', they will be able to convict him and put him in jail.
Kody makes it all look swell from the outside. His wives seem (kind of) happy and so do his kids. He has a fun loving personality that everyone likes, but that does not make what he is doing legal. There are good reasons why bigamy is illegal.
This is not just about a personal choice. It is illegal and it is degrading to women. It undermines family values and if everyone did it, it would undermine our society. If every man had multiple wives, most men would have no wives.
Sure, it might be fun sometimes to have your best girlfriends with you all the time to help out, but that would get old very fast if they were also taking up your time with your husband and sleeping with him.
We have all seen the pain on the faces of his wives from jealousy and hurt feelings. We have all seen that he does not have time for his wives let alone his children. The kids don't seem to get any daddy time at all.
At his latest commitment ceremony to his 4th wife, many of the guests in attendance would not allow themselves to be on camera because they are also polygamists. Kody had to set up a camera free zone, so his fellow criminals would not be exposed.
So, will Sister Wives husband, Kody Brown be arrested for felony bigamy? With all of the evidence against him, I don't know how prosecutors could not file charges against him. If they don't file charges, they would not be doing their job of enforcing the law. We would have to send the prosecutors to Immigration and Naturalization with all of the other officials that blatantly refuse to enforce our laws if they don't arrest him.
What next, will TLC come up with a show about cat burglars where all of the thief friends of the star hide in dark shadows so they are not caught on camera. Why is TLC glamorizing illegal activity? Why would Kody Brown think that he is exempt from the law?
If you are wondering 'will Sister Wives husband, Kody Brown be arrested for felony bigamy, the answer is mostly likely.

These are adults who has chosen to live their lives this way, I believe in one man one woman, but hell you have married men out their committing adultery everyday having children when they are married to someone else. If these women do not have a problem with the lifestyle why should anyone else. How can the law tell you who you can live with. I guess it is fine to commit adultery because you are not living with them and you are hiding the situation. Please the children look happy and healthy, better than children who have one mom and one dad. I feel that is their life and they have to live it. I would like to know what Robyn's ex husband has to say about his children living this life, or do he have any type of relationship with his children.

i think that this whole thing is soo stupid,
Women just hate to share their husbands so they are totally against this living situation. So they hold out sex with their husbands and then wonder why the husbands got tired of that and left them for another woman. Then the new one acts the same way the other one did, so hubby finds another to replace her...so with this 4 wife deal, hubby doesn't have to put up with that behaivior that women use to control men. So why not? I give Kody kudos for being able to balance, work, play, love, family and 4 wives. He does a better job than most of the dead beat dads some of these women are supporting these days. As long as his wives are OK with this and they are of age he has my vote.
I am at ah over what this family can do. I was not a fan of polygamy. Other shows in the past have made it to be something the women are pushed into. This family really makes it work and is in it by choice, So good luck Brown family and may god bless you.
Leave these people alone. They are not sticking their nose in your business and unless they are all expert actors including the little children, they are living happily together as a family that has values, prayer, time shared and caring. Eventhough I do not believe in polygamy what happened to personal choice in America. I don't believe they are defrauding the government. But there are many, many people in
America who are - why not concentrate on them. There are five adults in this household and only one is not working. She has a new baby. As I said before leave them alone! I also will be e-mailing the "system", prosecutor etc that are perpetrating this travesty of justice. LEAVE THIS FAMILY ALONE!
I would like to know if he gets dependent tax exemptions for all those extra illegal people living in his house. He should only get exemptions for the wife he's legally married to and their children. I'm tired of my tax dollars paying for people to "do their own thing".
...As for polygamy (be it polygyny or polyandry) being a felony, I can completely understand the Federal, State, and Local governments not wanting individuals abusing the system for tax or welfare fraud. Consider the burden on the system if polygamists have multiple children, then march down to Social Services and qualify for medical assistance, food stamps, and housing subsidies.
Or, consider if polygamy was given legal tax status...what with all the dependents, the government would be *paying* these individuals to add on more spouses and children. That could open up the door to tax fraud on a huge scale, and would bankrupt the system even faster.
However, if a bunch of people want to form a bonded household, what concern is it of mine? Or anyone else's, really? It doesn't affect me, nor does it affect anyone else not within the relationship.
If there is purported "pain" in the eyes of the wives, how many people have 100% perfect marriages? Given th
