Will Smith Latest Scientologist Hit with Gay Rumors
The blog, run by journalist Ian Halperin, quotes this anonymous madam as saying that Smith was a long time client of hers. According to her, Smith placed an order for sex with one of the two men under her employ, after repeatedly asking for discretion.
There is no concrete reason to believe the story yet, but it feeds into recurring rumors and speculation about Will Smith's sexuality. Not only that, but Smith's gay rumors may also put some extra blowback on his new religion, Scientology.
Smith has been a member of Scientology for almost a year, joining several other major stars who are members of the controversial religious group. Scientology has been notorious for a number of reason, most of all about homosexuality. Especially when it comes to some of Scientology's most prominent members.
For countless years, Scientology members Tom Cruise and John Travolta have been rumored to be closet homosexuals for one reason or another. Now that Will Smith is a member of Scientology and has his own rumors of homosexuality follow him around, it only adds to the Church's image as being a haven for closeted gay actors seeking to "cure" their homsexuality.
Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard wrote in one of his books that homosexuals should be "taken from the society as rapidly as possible." As such, Scientology is frequently accused of being a group that tries to "cure" gay people.
In 1998, former Scientologist Michael Pattinson sued the Church and claimed they lied to him in their promises to cure his homosexuality. Pattinson was a member for 25 years and claimed to feel no change, writing about their "anti-gay" practices and claiming that Scientology members even told him that they cured Travolta.
The fact that Cruise and Travolta are such prominent members, with all the rumors surrounding them over the years, only fuels that view of Scientology. The new gay rumors about Will Smith will certainly add to that premise as well.
