Will Smith's Infatuation with a Box Jelly Fish

Lois Lunsford
Will Smith's love for the Box Jelly Fish

When Will Smith's character, in the movie 7 Pounds was a boy, his father had taken him and his younger brother to the Monterey Bay Sea aquarium. The family lived in Oakland, California which is not very far from the aquarium. It is there that he fell in love with the beautiful, exotic Box Jelly Fish. Not to ruin the story for you in case you haven't seen the movie he does have an exciting encounter with his exotic Box Jelly fish friends.

In the movie, he even went as far as owning a couple of them as an adult and displayed them in a beautiful round, glass aquarium in his magnificent home located on a breathtaking mountain top overlooking the ocean. This aquarium in his home was a design that I have never seen in a living room. It seemed a little odd to own Jelly Fish. Especially if you have children running around the house. I imagine it is done only in the movies. I'm sure he purchased them from a reputable dealer.

Will Smith's home aquarium in the movie, was perfectly displayed in a room that he loved to be in and so your eyes were on the Box Jelly fish quite a lot. There is nothing else in the circular glass container only the 2 Box Jelly Fish. They swim around gracefully from side to side, ever so elegantly and peacefully. He would feed them small fish which they engulfed very easily.

There are thousands of jelly fish types in the ocean, and the chances of being stung can be high. Different types of Jelly Fish cause different degrees of stings. Jelly Fish are free-swimming, bell shaped, gelatinous creatures with long tentacles. Harmful Jelly Fish have stings capable of piercing the skin. If a person was stung they should seek medical attention right away. Usually they are not fatal but, can be very irritating.

The Monterey Bay Sea aquarium in Monterey, California is on Cannery Row and is the choice of peers and public alike as the finest aquarium in the nation. The largest marine sanctuary exhibits tell the stories of sea creatures from around the world.
