Palin has cemented herself with her base as some sort of goddess of perpetual ignorance, and she is worshiped as such. Her bona fides are too numerous and too well known to list here. It's safe to say anyone who knows the name Palin either loves her, dislikes her, or can't understand her and her appeal.
Now we have Michele Bachmann chomping at the heels of Sarah Palin, out to prove she deserves the title as the dumbest person ever to consider running for president. Bachmann's fans are nearly as rabid as Palin's, and possibly even more in awe of their star.
Chris Matthews has been going after Bachmann of late, calling her a "balloon head" and regularly featuring the stupidity of Bachmann on "Hardball." He wonders, as I do, how anyone could possibly even imagine Michele Bachmann is in any way qualified to run for public office.
Right behind the most visible ladies of the right wing meme wherein ignorance is indeed bliss and a profound misunderstanding of history is celebrated come the Storm Troopers of Stupidity - the Fox News pundits.
Glenn Beck calls Chris Matthews old and irrelevant for calling Bachmann a balloon head, going straight for the ad hominem over actually addressing Bachmann's ignorance. When the Congresswoman from Minnesota said the venerated Founding Fathers ended slavery, she dismissed almost a century of American history.
Sean Hannity virtually genuflects to both women when they come on his show, throwing them such slow-speed softballs that they defy gravity in flight. His drooling mannerisms further add to the laughable nature of his interviews.
Ill-informed Tea Party pundits pop up on news outlets and defend the indefensible ramblings put out by Palin, Bachmann, and other Tea Party faves. There seems to be an almost willful attempt to disregard knowledge. facts, learning, and intellectual curiosity.
Tea Party faithful relish the lack of knowledge leaders of the movement possess. It's no wonder, most of them deny not only the science of global warming, but also the science of evolution and basic physics. It's always a bad sign when a group of people ignore fact, no matter how much they have to stretch to do so.
Sarah Palin and Michele Bachmann may well end up on a presidential ticket for 2012, separately or together. Barack Obama, at least at this point, has to be a favorite to win again. Republicans aren't likely to risk a candidate with a real chance of winning, and are likely to throw up the proverbial sacrificial lamb.
Because one thing is fairly certain - if either of them run, they will have almost no chance of winning. The powers in the Republican Party were happy to use the Tea Party people this past election, and are likely to do it again. What they don't want, however, is for any of them to have real power.
The end result of that game may turn out to be a rendering helpless of the Tea Party Movement. It just might drown in a big giant mug o' stupid. When the happens, the country will be the winner.

Post a CommentThe dumbest move the T.E.A. Party ever did was to be allied with the G.O.P. Wasn't it begun as a response to all politicians in general? They lost their anger, and settled for the trap of the easy path. Bachmann voted to renew the P.A.T.R.I.O.T. Act. As usual, musall, your avatar says it all! An uneducated college dropout pontificating about facts as though you any respect for them and logic as though you knew anything about it! LOL All "Enlightened" people like you want to do is turn our country into a clone of your beloved Soviet Union.
I'd like to say there's no way Palin would make it through a primary, but I will refrain from doing so only because I once said that about Ronald Reagan.
Trouble logging in, Jeff, but just have to say this is especially good... scary but especially good.
Wow, your energy is admirable, your hate is still ignorant – The Tea Party is still growing, and Yes – growing stronger… You will never understand that it is not about YELLING. SCREAMING, NAME CALLING etc. . Its about a small but LARGE voice around election time, and around this country- Jeff – You may find out that what YOU and your Progressives want does not exist – HAY, WHY NOT Spend more money to get more money, This COUNTRY IS BROKE…It doesn’t take a genius to know, inflation is on the way…
Politics is getting weirder than ever w/ the new Tea Party crew / Palin. The GOP does not have a viable candidate in sight.
Many have already disappeared beneath the surface of ignorance and hate.
The idea starts out with a good and noble goal in mind and then some how goes horribly wrong. That's how we got where we are after all isn't it?
yeah Jeff, but we should be careful of what we wish for. I saw a piece about how Mike Bloomberg running on an independent ticket could usher in Palin to the white house. that's what it would become the perverbial lowercase white house as our stature on the world stafe flows down and out. one needs to wonder who in their right minds...oh wait, nevermind. that's what it is; they're all crazy!
It's not clear if Bachmann is stupid, ignorant or deliberately lying to people Of course, it could be all three
