Will Tiger Woods Ever Be #1 Again?

Shirley Norling
Tiger Woods has finished his worst career performance at the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational golf tournament on Sun., Aug. 8,2010. The American World #1 golfer struggled in his final round at the Firestone Country Club with his highest final score as a professional. He had previously reigned supreme here with 7 victories in 11 starts.

"I'm just not playing well", Tiger was quoted as telling reporters on Sunday afternoon. Not playing well is an understatement, to say the least. He hasn't won any of the 8 PGA tournaments he has played in since "the walls came thumbling down" on him on the weekend of Thanksgiving 2009.

Tiger Woods lost his aura of being invincible since his double life was exposed at the end of 2009. His marriage to his beautiful Swedish wife Elin has unraveled. Obviously his golf struggles are attributed mainly to his mental state because of these personal struggles he's encountered. Having your whole life literally fall apart right before your eyes and knowing full well that you are responsible for it has got to be quite devastating, one would presume.

"It's been a long year", Tiger said. That long year isn't over yet either. Tiger Woods personal life will have to get straightened out before he can get back to par on the golf course, his colleagues are saying. He's got a lot of stuff going on right now and it's definitely showing in his golf game.

Will Tiger Woods ever be back to the Tiger we once knew on the golf course is yet to be seen. Anything is possible as we all know. Tiger's status as a hero to the many fans he once knew may take a long, long time, though. We don't live in a society that is that forgiving.Tiger Woods will really need to prove himself both on and off the golf course before he can be called a hero again.

Personally, I would like to see Tiger Woods be #1 again. I probably won't be too popular for saying that, but I do believe in 2nd chances. I've made mistakes in my lifetime that I'd like to turn the clock back on and wish they never had happened, but life goes on and we all know sometimes we just have to" pick up the pieces, brush ourselves off, and start all over again."(I don't think my mistakes very quite as stupid as Tiger's were, by the way). Learning from our mistakes could be called a good life lesson. Repeating those mistakes over and over again can only be called stupidity in my book. What road Tiger Woods decides to take is yet to be seen. If he ever wants to be #1 again and be called hero, it's quite obvious what road he should be taking.

What he does or doesn't do on the golf course is his own doing. His nasty attutude during his ineterview after the game showed his true colors.
