Will a Top Ranked Team Be Haunted by an Upset Halloween Weekend?

Oklahoma vs. Kansas State

The Kansas State Wildcats currently ranked No. 11 in the initial BCS rankings that came out on Sunday, October 16, 2011 will be looking to knock off a Top 4 ranked team, the Oklahoma Sooners on Halloween weekend. Do they have a chance to do this?

In college football, anything can happen and when two Top 20 teams meet on the field, I say anything can happen. Knocking off a Top ranked team is inspiration for any team to play their very best game. Sitting at No. 11 in the BCS rankings, Kansas State is looking to improve their stock in rankings for Bowl selection. Now they have even more incentive to beat Oklahoma.

There is no doubt in my mind that Oklahoma will remember the 2003 game where Kansas State took away the Big 12 championship from them. Kansas will also be looking back to that date in history and will be fired up for this pre-Halloween game set for Saturday, October 29, 2011. The Wildcats also have the advantage of playing this game at home in Manhattan, Kansas. This makes three lucky charms for Kansas State.

My prediction for this game is that the Kansas Wildcats will give this game all they have and it will be a tough game for Oklahoma. It can go either way, and with home field advantage, Kansas State may just pull this Halloween scare off!

Clemson vs. Georgia Tech

Another game to watch out for on Halloween weekend is the Clemson - Georgia Tech football game. The Clemson Tigers are ranked #7 in the current BCS poll and Georgia Tech is ranked # 22.

This will be a night game played at the Bobby Dodd Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia with the kickoff set for 8:00 pm. Home advantage goes to Georgia Tech for this game, which will also be nationally televised by ABC, ESPN or ESPN2. The network will be announced after the October 22, 2011 game.

Once again the underdog, Georgia Tech will be playing a higher ranked Top 10 team at home with the hometown advantages. While Georgia State doesn't quite have the talent that Clemson does, this game could very well become a nightmare for Clemson due to the fact that it is an away game.

Top 5 teams that have open dates this week are Alabama, LSU and Boise State. LSU and Alabama, ranked No. 1 and No. 2, respectively, could risk losing their rankings if Oklahoma stomps Kansas State. There is a lot n the line this weekend and the results could be spooky for these top ranked teams.

Wisconsin is looking for a top 4 BCS ranking. However, they still have Michigan State to play.
