Will Wade Phillips or Mike Holmgren Be Back with Their Respective Teams Next Season?

When it comes to coaching in football, Dallas Cowboys coach Wade Phillips and Seattle Seahawks coach Mike Holmgren have had a large amount of success. However, this past weekend, both men lost their respective playoff games, raising the question, will both of them be back with their teams next season? My Answer is with a definitive "yes."

Prior to the start of the Dallas Cowboys playoff game at home against the New York Giants, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones had stated that Wade Phillips won't get fired even if the Cowboys lose the playoff game to the Giants, which sure enough they did that day. Despite the fact that the Cowboys did not live up to expectations with their #1 seed ranking in the NFC, Wade Phillips did one heck of a coaching job this past season with antics from Tony Romo and Terrell Owens.

In only his first full season coaching the Cowboys, Phillips led the team to a 13-3 record and was respected and loved by his players. He did a better job coaching the Cowboys than previous coach Bill Parcells which is saying a lot about the coaching that Phillips did this past season. He is a low key guy and someone who has steadied the Cowboys ship the entire season.

As for Mike Holmgren, the ball is in his court. The Seattle Seahawks have stated that they want Homgren back and so the decision is entirely his. He loves working with his quarterback Matt Hassleback who he took with him from his coaching days in Green Bay where Hassleback was a backup quarterback to Brett Favre. There are still a lot of good players on the Seahawks including former MVP running back Sean Alexander.

Also remember that only a few years ago, the Seahawks made it to the Super Bowl. I fully expect Mike Holmgren to return on the sidelines coaching the Seahawks. He is still one of the best coaches in football and he won a Super Bowl with the Green Bay Packers which many football fans forget.

Jerry Jones has done more idiotic things than fire a first year, 13-3 coach, so Phillips should get his resume ready.
