Will the World Ever Live as One?

A Tribute to John Lennon

Michele Starkey

"A dream you dream alone is only a dream. A dream you dream together is reality." Yoko Ono

Yoko Ono is probably one, if not the single, most famous widow of all time having been married to the beloved John Lennon from March of 1969 until his death on December 8, 1980. Yoko turned 78 years old in February of this year.

What is Yoko Ono up to these days?

She is promoting Linda McCartney's Life in Photographs at the Bonni Benrubi Gallery in NYC. McCartney's work will be on display until July 29th.

Yoko is on Twitter and every Friday she answers the top ten tweets. If you are on Twitter, you can follow her, along with 1.5 million followers at: @yokoono You will read such tweets as, "Love is the force of life. It keeps us alive, spread it and heal."

One of the greatest tributes to her late husband's desire for world peace was the Imagine peace artwork that was dedicated to John by Yoko at its unveiling on October 9th 2007 (John Lennon's 67th birthday.) in Reykjavik Iceland.

Some facts about the Imagine Peace Tower:

It is lit every year on October 7th (John's birthday) and remains lit until December (the anniversary of his death in NYC).

Imagine Peace is inscribed on the Tower in 24 different languages.

You can tweet, email or send your own peace wishes to Yoko to be included along with the 1.4 million wishes that have been sent to the Imagine Peace Tower Reykjavik, Iceland.

Watch Yoko's video about the building of the "lighthouse" request by John Lennon in 1969. You can also listen to John Lennon singing, "Imagine" by clicking here.

Just "Imagine" if the world could come together.

I would love to go see that tower. It's hard to believe that Yoko is 78. Wish John Lennon were here today. I still listen to his music all the time. This is a super neat article, Michele.

Actually, it already does twice a day all day long as the whole world with polar exceptions watches the whole world move as one with the coming and going of the sun.

I wasn't a fan of John Lennon nor am I a fan of Yoko. I was interested in the Beatles for a while. Thanks for the info.
