His mother was Louisa, his father Alphonso
His childhood home, in honor of him,
Historically restored, and is now a museum.

William Howard Taft was a very large man
Known as "Big Lub" by his college friends
He told a friend he took a horse back ride
"How's the horse?" was his friend's reply.

Three children he had with Helen his wife
The children became leaders in their lives
After being the first lady for only eight weeks,
Mrs. Taft had a stroke that affected her speech

Taft was the first president to own an auto
Not fond of the press, or being in a photo.
The last president to have hair on his face
The heaviest president of the United States.

The only Chief Justice who was also president
Taft died only five weeks, after his retirement.
His body lies in Arlington, in Washington D.C.
The first U.S. president to have this dignity.

    This is good. The history between Roosevelt and Taft (100 yrs ago) makes me think 'History might be repeating itself". Progressive Bull Moose party or Progressive Tea Party.
