Willie Nelson to Make Movies for Luck Films

Mary Thatcher
Willie Nelson has long been a favorite in classic country music. As Miley Cyrus recently stated, country music is not what it used to be, and although Willie continues to perform at venues every year, over the next several years he is slated to make movies. The familiar gray braids will don the silver screen in country themed films that will be made under Luck Films, his own film production company. This is a great way to promote his own music and work, since many of his former hits will be featured in these films. Cinematical reports that Willie will have a little help from a few friends in the film industry, namely, Kerry Wallum, Norman Macera, Scott Macauley, and David Von Roehm.

Willie is no stranger to film or television. He appeared in the made for television movie "The Dukes of Hazzard" in 2005, appeared as Buck Bonham in "Honeysuckle Rose" in 1980, and even appeared in an episode of "The Rockford Files" in 1978 in an episode titled "Heartaches of a Fool", a rather fitting one for Willie to appear in, since it sounds like a country song title itself. Willie's appearances on "Dr Quinn, Medicine Woman" back in 1996 and 1998 are memorable, too. His character of Marshall Elias Burch was one that practically defined the old west country. There is nothing quite as down home as the characters Willie has portrayed in the past, which also explains his wide appeal to Americans across the demographics.

The first movie to be produced by Luck Films is called "The Dry Gulch Kid" which will start shooting in May this year. "Shoot Out of Luck", while mentioned as a 2009 movie in production by IMDB, is also in production for this year, too. "Shoot Out of Luck" is reminiscent of the 1970's television series "Alias Smith and Jones" starring Ben Murphy and Pete Duel, who portray two outlaws who don't pose any threat to anyone, mainly because they aren't violent men by nature. They are well liked and have a lot of friends and are free to work and live anywhere they go so long as they do not run into the law. This kind of theme will have its variations in other films to be sure, and none is more perfect for a country-western movie that includes comedy and criminals than Willie Nelson. Willie's fans will be looking forward to seeing him in his movies, and those who enjoy westerns in general will no doubt want to watch them for light entertainment.
