Willow Smith Already Knows What She Wants to Be at Age 9

Being the daughter of Will and Jada Pinkett Smith must be hard? Or is it? I doubt it, a thrilling challenge perhaps. Their 9-year-old daughter Willow appears to be getting an early start on a music career. After releasing her first single, Whip My Hair, the song went on to become a viral sensation, scoring over 7 million hits on YouTube alone. The single caught the eye of Jay-Z and he traveled to Japan just to meet her.

Although the song made its original debut on iTunes, it continues to score hit-after-hit in the music market. Everyone wants to see if she has any talent, and the answer is yes, yes she does. And lucky for her: at her age, her potential will only grow. I have no doubt that she will be very famous, and maybe eventually more successful than her parents, at least in the music industry. Plus she has a lot of time and years of maturity left to get there. Not that her parents didn't find success musically, but they didn't really find it on a message/deep level.

She told MTV that her breakout single "Do You" is about being an individual, finding a way to be fearless, and being a champion. MTV asked who her influences were and she named Lady Gaga and Billy Idol. Soon after she also listed Beyonce, Jay-Z, and her parents to the list.

Soon after the song went viral, Sesame Street mashed her song making another popular video called I Love My Hair. The Huffington Post reports that she thought it was very funny. She also admitted that she wants be famous, like her parents. At least she know what she wants. I mean, who know that? Much less at age 9.

Willow isn't the only child of the Smith's to know what she wants to do. Earlier this year, their other child Jaden starred in a remake of The Karate Kid. Their kids will undoubtedly be famous Hollywood stars.

Both of her parents have successful blockbuster careers and are respectable stars. Both have also had musical careers. But, not only does Willow want to be "big and famous" like her parents, she also wants to make a difference and help people with her message. Pretty heavy words coming from a nine-year-old!

Willow describes her music as "punk rock meets preppy". Like Lady Gaga she wants to help people express themselves and help them with her message. Interesting to say the very least.

Willow's first album will be released next year, courtesy of Jay-Z's Roc Nation. And success will be hers, without a doubt. If for some reason it doesn't work out (it will), just being the daughter of Will Smith had got to be pretty sweet.
