Willow Smith Carries on the Family Tradition

It seems that Willow Smith will be kicking off the new year in a major way. She is set to perform at Dick Clark's New Years Eve Celebration. Of course this will not be her first live performance, nor will it be her last. After watching several of her performances, you can tell she's a little nervous but she quickly relaxes and gets into the song after a few seconds. Many fans are excited to see what her next song will be and when her album will actually be released.

Willow Smith has released her first music video, for "Whip My Hair", and I must say it seems very age appropriate. It's a simple video, with a bunch of kids who are just having fun. There is not much dancing in the video, but for a first attempt, I must say it's a nice one. The best part is that Willow seems to have had a lot of fun making the video, and at her age that is the most important thing.

It seems that the youngest of the Smith family is showcasing her musical ability. Hearing just a little bit of her first track, allows many to see how talented this little nine year old really is. The song itself is clearly made for a young age group, but even adults are finding the tune to be catchy. She just recently signed on with Jay-Z's record label. Of course the down side is that her style is one that already exists. She clearly is copying the style of singer Rihanna. Even listening to the song although it has a younger style to it she clearly is imitating the Rihanna style.

Of course there are millions of talented young kids, unfortunately they do not have the connections that this young lady has. With famous parents like Will Smith, and Jada Pinkett Smith, there are really no limits to the number of doors that are available to this young lady. So far she has shown that she has the passion, and talent to back up what she wants to do. So what is in store for young Willow Smith?

Many would like to see her break away from the Rihanna style, and wonder if the label will help her to create her own unique style, and sound. It would be nice to see this young lady really showcase a style that is all her own. She has the vocal ability, but it would be nice to hear a song that showcases her vocal range. She is still young and right now it seems like her family is helping her focus on having fun with her various projects.

What really stands out to me is the fact that a nine year old is being encouraged to pursue her passion. So many kids have the ability but they are just not encouraged in the right way. Regardless of who your parents are if you really want to pursue a passion you have, you can do it. Living in the age of technology there is really so much that you can do all from the comfort of your own home. So if your children show interest in something why not help them to pursue it. You may not have the connections that the Smith family has, but you can start by being one of your child's biggest fans and supporters. As for kids who want to do what Willow is doing, or something similar, why wait, start now. As for Willow, I am sure that we can look forward to seeing some really great things in the future from this young lady.
