Wilmington, Delaware's Best Eats: Walter's Steakhouse

Hailed as the area's best restaurant in the area for more than a decade, Walter's Steakhouse in Wilmington, Delaware is a fabulous place to spend an evening. This restaurant has been been run by the Constantinou family since the 1940's and is now the perfect blend of a family-run restaurant and a modern eatery. It has an extensive and impressive menu ranging from the appetizers right on through the desserts.

What must be said about Walter's is that the food is phenomenal. I visited with a party of 6 and every single one of us was more than pleased with our meals. Our meal was accompanied by a fabulous raw bar, which not only had a varied of shell fish but also shrimp cocktail. As my entree, I ordered the filet mignon and scallops. The fillet was perfectly cooked, tender, juicy and flavorful. It was by far the best filet I have ever had. The scallops were perfect as well, tender, delicate and also perfectly cooked. Scallops are one of my favorite foods, but I have never tasted scallops that were this good! My fellow diners ordered a variety of other items including prime rib, New York Strip and lobster. Everyone at the table was happy with their meals!

Not only was the food beyond fabulous but the wait staff was professional and kind and they actually had personality, which was quite refreshing. They were helpful and fun and made the experience that much better. They were very patient and attentive and really added that extra dimension that makes a restaurant one of the great ones.

To top it all off their diverse dessert menu is amazing. They have a number of different items from a towering strawberry shortcake to a delicate creme brulee. Everyone in our party ordered a different dessert and everyone was more than happy. They have something for everyone--from the chocolate lovers to those who love those traditional fruit-based delights! I, for one, know that the strawberry shortcake is fabulous!

Honestly, the food and service at Walter's Steakhouse speaks for itself. No review could even do it justice. Find out for yourself, head into Wilmington to North Union Street and have a fabulous dining experience at Walter's Steakhouse. Hours are Monday through Saturday from 5pm until 11pm and Sunday from 4pm to 10 pm. Reservations are recommended. Don't forget to stop in and see for yourself--it is also a great venue for banquets!
