Win the Anti-aging Fight With Resistance Exercise

I have been fighting the battle of the bulge ever since I reached the age of 50. It seemed no matter how much I dieted, the weight kept creeping upward. It wasn't until I started to do some resistance exercise that I was finally able to notice my over all appearance took a big turn around. The resistance exercise along with a proper diet seemed to be a miracle anti-aging cure.

The best part about resistance exercise was that I did not need fancy equipment. I had all the equipment I needed, my own body weight. Resistance exercise consists of moving your own body weight against resistance. It is not required that you spend hours in the gym becoming a massive bodybuilder or any other extreme routine that can cause damage to the body. In fact in older adults it is not recommended that you start out with any strenuous exercise. Small changes gradually will help keep you incorporating exercise in your daily routine.

Swimming is one of the easiest resistance exercises that one can do. The water is consistently pushing against your entire body from head to toe, without any undo stress against joints. It isn't required that one does laps. All that is needed to get results is to keep moving in the water.

Once you are feeling more fit then incorporate such things as floor exercises, biking, walking and more fun activities. My children have a trampoline. Before I could not even get on it, now I can get on it and jump to my hearts content. When I go golfing now, I walk the course instead of using the golf cart.

As of my last doctors visit, my sugar levels have dropped dramatically, my blood pressure is down to expectable levels and I have lost 30 pounds. This was the proof that I needed to confirm that I was making huge improvements in my over all physical health, not just the weight. My mental clarity seems to be improving too. I feel more alive today than I have in years.

It is amazing how just incorporating resistance exercise into my life has been the anti-aging prescription for the fountain of youth. Resistance exercise does not mean you have to alter your whole life around a gym or health club. Resistance exercise is more about getting up off the couch and moving your body in a fun and pain free way.
