Win People to Christ

Five Ways to Do so in 2009

Pablo Diaz
A lot of us plan a lot of things when the New Year arrives. Many of us focus on ways to shed the pounds while others try to find out ways to improve from the previous year. A New Year's resolution doesn't have to fail by the second month of the New Year. I mean, lets me honest, most of us forget the resolution we made by the 3rd week in January of the New Year. We have to be practical, rational, and most of all, motivated; that is the formula to keep your New Year's Resolution.

Now, I am Christian and I know the importance of winning people to Christ. According to the Bible, we are all called to preach the Word to the whole world. This is called evangelizing. When we go out there and tell the whole world the good news and how to be saved, not by works, but through faith. I want to take you to the Bible so you can read for yourself:

Mark 16:15 says "And He said to them, 'Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.' "

Matthew 24:14 says "And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come."

My New Year's Resolution for 2009 is to win people to Christ. I will tell you five ways I intend to keep this resolution. We all think differently so you might have different ways to do so on your list, but here are my ideas.

1.) Give testimony of what God has done in your life to people you see on a daily basis. You might see Joe at work and when he asks "how are you today?" you could respond, "I'm doing great today Joe, just thankful that God gave me another day to live." With that phrase Joe will know you have God playing a really important role in your life. Tell people when God heals you or a family member. Speak to them about how God provided money for you to pay your bills when a hardship came to your life. Do what Christ says in the Bible and work at your job extra hard and do everything to the best of your ability, even if your managers or supervisors aren't the best of the bunch. Be slow to talk and quick to hear, listen to people when they have problems and try to provide some advice, not coming from your thoughts or humanly experience, but from the Bible and the Word of God. Do this with as many people as you can, one will eventually ask you what Church you go to or what religion you are. That opens up the opportunity to invite that person to Church and the Holy Spirit will do the rest!

2.) Get a little piece of paper and write a verse on it of the Bible or write a brief message of Salvation. You could say "The only way to Heaven is through Christ. The Bible says no one will see the Father except through Christ." Or "Are you saved? If you died today, would you go to heaven?" Make a few of pieces of paper, drop them in the parking lot, in a busy hallway, put them on someone's desk in school, leave it in your friend's car. Once that person read's the message they will think about it and who knows, the Holy Spirit might work with that person and they might visit a church. If you want, you could write the address of your congregation on the back of the paper, this way they could find it and visit.

3.) Buy yourself a Christian shirt and walk around in it at the local mall. There is a website where you could design your own shirts, www.spreadshirt.com, you could visit that site and make your own shirt. This will allow you to personalize it and maybe put the address of your Church on the back of the shirt or a phone number they could reach you to hear the word of God.

4.) Go to a public place with a friend from Church, it could be more than two people, and once you're there you could act out a play. You could, for example, have one of your friends walk with a prop that says "depression," another one with a prop that says "anger," maybe one with "jealousy." Then you could have someone else come in and say "Some of us feel jealous, get angry and are depressed. There is a way to get rid of those feelings and at the save time gain eternal life." Get creative! Make it fun!

5.) Make some time during the week or the weekend and visit people at the hospitals, jails, rehabilitation homes, or houses on your street. Once you're there speak to them about how they can be saved. Let them borrow a Bible or give them one. Read some Biblical verses to them, pray for them, and invite them to Church. Show them you care and show them Jesus Christ's love in you by maintaining a relationship with them in their times of need. Be willing to help them whenever they need it but never stop showing them the things Christ has done with you.

Those are my five ways to win people to Christ this New Year. I want to become a better Christian, I personally think that we should all try to improve our lives for God each day, but we should also try to improve the lives of others and tell them the beautiful things that God has for them. Some people are waiting for us to talk to them and give them hope. The hope they need comes from Jesus Christ and His Salvation. He was the ultimate sacrifice and we should ALL be thankful for it! Let people know why you're so peaceful in times as hard as these. Our Lord is merciful and will provide for us all the help we need to survive and to keep spreading His Word.

Have a wonderful Holiday Season, New Year, and may God Bless you and all those who come in contact with you!Jesus ChristSalvationNew Year's ResolutionAccepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior and being obedient to God and reading the bible is the only way to heaven.
