Windmills and Water Wheels

Walton S. Tissot
In a time long past
The dark of night was perfect
The sky bright and close
Closer then we have known
The heavens and stars
The ancient world

The future is now
And here we all are
Alone with ourselves now
Broken hearted and waiting
For something in the sunbeam
For anything to heal it

Love was the law
But dust to dust
The dug earth
Blacktop - trees cut
Kill the beast
Consume and forget

That time has past now
The future is now
That dark of night was perfect
Closer then we have known
All alone waiting
With ourselves and now
