Windows Mobile Device Not Connecting in Windows 7?

There are many people who run into the problem of not being able to properly use Windows Mobile Device Center in Windows 7. The problem that they have is that they find out that the WMDC for Windows 7 never connects. There are two major causes for this problem which also come along with two easy solutions.

The first cause that starts the problem of WMDC not connecting is the fact that most people download their Windows Mobile Device Center 6.1 via Windows Update. This is usually because Windows 7 tries to download it automatically when you plug up your Windows Mobile Device. Sometimes it works but there are many other situations where it won't install correctly. To solve this problem simply uninstall the WMDC 6.1 program that was installed by Windows Update. You will then have to download the Windows Mobile Device Center 6.1 for Windows Vista. After you install that version of Windows Media Device Center then you should be able to connect your Windows Mobile Device without any problems at all.

The other problem that many people have is very similar. The only difference is that you will need to download the 64-bit version of Windows Mobile Device Center 6.1 if you are using the 64 bit version of Windows 7. Although Windows Update will try to automatically download the program for you, you will almost always run into the problem of WMDC not connecting. If you run into the problem of WMDC not connecting then you will have to make sure that you download the 64 bit version of Windows Mobile Device Center 6.1 for Windows Vista.

After you have successfully performed a manual install of Windows Mobile Device Center 6.1 then you will be able to do all of the things you would have normally been able to do on ActiveSync and all the previous versions of Windows Mobile Device. Another thing to note is that the program also installs the drivers needed for some Windows Mobile phones that allow them to use 3G tethering or internet tethering on your desktop computer or laptop computer.
