Windows Registry Repair Tips

Greg Smith
So what do you do when your computer performance is at a stand still? You've done all the tips and tricks you read about online. Tips like defragment your pc, perform a disk cleanup or remove spyware and any viruses. None of it works. Frustration is setting in and you need to get you computer up and running now. This looks like it might be a good time to invest in a registry repair program to get you back up to speed.

Contrary to what most people think, you don't need a Masters digress in Computer Science to fix your registry. It can be as painless as taking a couple of aspirin. So take notes as I give you a couple of tips on how to get your computer running like new.

Tip 1.

If you do not have any experience handling your registry manually, don't touch it. If you delete one seemingly helpless file, you could cripple your computer to the point of no return. If you still feel an itch to go in and dangle around in your registry, then make sure you download some guides and visit some registry forums where you can ask for advice from experts (they'll tell you to keep your hands out of there too).

Tip 2.

Always back up your pc before you make any changes. If you're not familiar with the IT world, this rule is literally biblical. Before you make any changes to your pc, you always back it up. Some changes cannot be, what they call, rolled back. If that's the case, you'll need a backup to restore you to at least working condition.

Tips 3.

Verify if it really is your registry that needs to be fixed. Your issues may not come from your registry. Maybe you have a hidden virus or there's a program causing a conflict with another application on your pc. Most programs you can get will scan your registry for free and give you a detailed listing of what could be wrong. Take advantage of this before you go doing drastic changes.

Tip 4.

Try to perform registry maintenance on a regular basis. This will help detour future issues. If you purchase a registry program, use it's scheduler to go over its maintenance program at least 1 to 2 times monthly.

I hope these tips help you in your plight to keep your registry healthy and happy.
