Windows Vista: Is Your Computer Ready?

Thinking of upgrading your old operating system to the new Windows Vista, but unsure of your machine's capabilities? Go to your Start Menu/All Programs and click on Accessories/System Tools. By choosing the System Information link in System Tools, you will get a screen for which you are able to look at your computer's specifications. Going to the manufacturer's website and entering in your exact model will also work for showing specifications. Below is the minimum system requirement's for the popular Windows Vista Home Basic and Home Premium.

Vista Home Basic

Minimum Hardware Requirements:

800 MHz Processor
512 MB RAM
DirectX 9 support
15 GB free space on a 40 GB hard drive

Vista Home Premium using Aero Interface

Minimum Hardware Requirements:

1 GHz Processor
1 GB Physical RAM
128 MB Memory Graphics Card **
15 GB free on a 40 GB hard drive

** Video card must support the following: DirectX9, pixel shader 2, 32 bits per pixel, and use Windows Display Driver Model (WDDM) driver
*** Gamers may require more powerful specifications
