Windows Vista Ready Boost Review

Christopher Anderson
I feel compelled to let people know about a feature on Windows Vista called Ready Boost. If you find that after running a few applications over a period of time you lose performance and your RAM is maxed out, and you run utility programs and the usual maintenance in the hopes that they will do what they were advertised to do. Reclaim your RAM and increase performance. Well, some do, but most don't make a difference at all, unless you count using up more of your already over taxed resources. Vista Ready Boost makes that less of a problem. And so if your computer, in spite of your efforts, starts to show the wear and tear of being frequently used and you have Windows Vista, try enabling your Ready Boost feature. Because it seems that once your performance starts to slip you can run all the, "Make Your Computer Run like New Again", software you want, but it will never be quite the same. And in time you come to miss the days when your trusty computer was young and fresh. So what is left to do? You've upgraded the RAM it will hold, now what? I'm new to Vista, and was unfamiliar with Ready Boost. So before I could take advantage of Ready Boost I took my new Vista for a ride. After some time, I found it wasn't so different from my old operating system. The performance on the Vista was as expected from a new system it was faster, had cool new attributes and in time I was able to navigate as if I'd always used it. Then the same old ghost came to haunt me again. The performance issues were back and so I began running my staple of maintenance programs, but the performance gain was minimal.

While watching Jeopardy a question about a Windows Vista Function comes up. The answer was Ready Boost.; Of course I got it wrong. I call friends, Can you tell me about Ready Boost? Surprisingly, no one I spoke with had any idea what I was talking about. No help there. So I took to the net. I go to the Windows website to see what I can find on this, Ready Boost feature, and find that I have all I need to use this new feature. I won't get all technical but I will say that once I went though a few simple steps and enable Ready Boost. It was like had installed new ram. In actuality by taking the stress from the computer having to use the hard drive as virtual memory, which is what it would do when the ram is taxed too much. I found that my computer really liked me again; it ran as close to the day I brought it home. There is a certain amount of comfort in executing functions simultaneously with the confidence that I no longer have to worry about the drag and the frustration that inevitably follows, when your system can't handle the load of having several tasks running over an extended period of time. Ready Boost is the answer I was looking for.

Now once again, I can work, browse at my leisure and run multiple applications without the loss of performance. I don't know why I've never heard of this feature, should have read the manual. I love Windows Vista, because this was a brilliant idea. As most know upgrading ram has increasingly become expensive and the cards from your old discarded computer no longer fit in to the modern motherboard. So this function is truly genius and all those of you with Vista should really take advantage of this, and all those waiting till the holiday season to upgrade you have a little extra to look forward to. For those of you who already have Windows Vista and are unaware of this feature stop by the widow's web site and read up on it. Trust me; it won't be a waste of your time. For those of you with Vista and not aware of the feature, use it. It is a great help.
