While there's no substitute for a well-written, informative article, being able to see something in action (whether it's a product or a process) is also pretty valuable.
Video presentations can also make a website more dynamic. You might have a great website now. But add a video presentation, and you will have a website your visitors won't soon forget.
There are a lot of great software programs out there that can help you make presentations like these. Unfortunately, these programs are either pretty expensive, or they are too complicated and hard to use.
Well, once again, freeware comes to the rescue. Wink can help you create an unlimited amount of video presentations with ease, and for free.
What Is Wink?
Wink is a freeware tool that helps you make video presentations that can be added to your website. You can use Wink to create visual tutorials, slideshow presentations, and much more.
Video presentations are also a great marketing tool. Telling someone about a great product, how it works, and how useful it can be, is good. But giving customers a way to see the product in action with their own eyes can be even more persuasive.
How Does Wink Work?
Using Wink is simple.
Say, for example, you want to create a Photoshop tutorial to place on your website. Then all you have to do is activate Wink, and then go through the steps of the tutorial.
One of the downsides of many video creation programs is that, once you start recording, that's it. You have to go through the steps perfectly from beginning to end. Make a mistake, and you have to start all over again.
With Wink, you don't have that problem. Wink projects are composed of a series of screenshots. When you've finished recording your project, you can remove any screenshots you don't want, including those in which you made a mistake.
When you compile your project, Wink "animates" the screenshots in such a way that viewers will never know that some of the screenshots were removed.
Adding Comments
As you are putting together your presentations, Wink allows you to add comments to the screenshots. These comments help walk your viewers through the tutorial or product demonstration.
Finishing a Product
Once your presentation is done, you save it as a Flash file that can be viewed on any web browser. All your viewers need to see your video presentation is the free, Macromedia Flash Player, which is already installed on most computers.
Adding video presentations to a website is one of those things that seems pretty complicated to anyone who hasn't tried it. And, in some cases, it can be. But, with Wink, you can add a fun and dynamic element to your website with ease. And, best of all, you can do it for free.
