Winona Ryder Says Mel Gibson Called Jews 'Oven Dodgers'

Racist, Sexist, Anti-Semitic and Homophobic

Winona Ryder says Mel Gibson made homophobic and anti-Semitic remarks at a party they attended 15 years ago, as reported at OMG! The remarks were made at a private party, but Gibson has since become known to the public for being a celebrity who is not only sexist, but also racist, anti-Semitic and homophobic. Most recently, racist and sexist comments, hurled at his ex- girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva, were recorded. He is also famous for his anti-Semitic words hurled at a police officer when he was pulled over for drunk driving.

Gibson showed his dark side as early as 15 years ago when he was making the "Lethal Weapon" movies with African American Danny Glover

Jewish Winona Ryder, 39, who is making a comeback in her career after a shoplifting scandal and depression and who is currently starring in "Black Swan" and "The Dilemma," says Mel Gibson, drunk at a party 15 years ago, made hateful remarks about gays and about Jews. "I remember, like, fifteen years ago, I was at one of those big Hollywood parties. And [Gibson] was really drunk," Ryder says. "I was with my friend, who's gay. [Gibson] made a really horrible gay joke. And somehow it came up that I was Jewish. He said something about 'oven dodgers,' but I didn't get it."

The proof that Mel Gibson, 56, is racist, sexist, anti-Semitic and homophobic has been clearly shown to the public, and now there's more proof with the information from Ryder. "I'd never heard that before. It was just this weird, weird moment. I was like, 'He's anti-Semitic and he's homophobic.' No one believed me!" Said Ryder.

It's easy to under why no one believed her. When we watched Mel Gibson on the screen with Danny Glover, most people had no idea they were watching a bigot. The chemistry between Gibson and Glover fooled us. After all, they're good actors. But did they actually get along? Did Gibson respect Glover?

Winona Ryder says Mel Gibson is anti-Semitic and a homophobe, but Danny Glover isn't talking

African American Danny Glover, 64, who happens to also have a long list of humanitarian and political activism accomplishments, has remained silent on Mel Gibson. Glover starred with Gibson in the "Lethal Weapon" films. Glover starred as older, by the books cop Roger Murtaugh, and Gibson played younger and wilder cop Martin Riggs.

It was an enormously successful film franchise. Ed Walsh from Examiner notes, "The Times notes that Glover's lack of response on Gibson is typical of activists in Hollywood who don't hesitate to speak up on public injustices, but stay quiet when it involves their own." It's an odd stance for Glover to take given his history and given the fact that he's black. Ironically, African American Whoopi Goldberg spoke out in support of Gibson, but Glover hasn't even done that.

In any case, Winona Ryder on Mel Gibson is no surprise. Gibson's behavior has greatly harmed his image. The "Edge of Darkness" performed poorly, and his plan to appear in "The Hangover: Part II" was canceled because no one wanted to work with a bigot.

Someone I know recently became obsessed with Mel Gibson since it became known that he is such a hateful person and thinks he's "amazing" and "God" now. Needless to say, we are no longer friends. I've never really liked Mel Gibson for some reason, but this gives me more of a reason to stick to my gut.

And, yet another person defends Gibson. Crazy. That bigot has got a large fan club. He'll be just fine.

  • My Posting Career12/17/2010

Ryder's career is still in the crapper after years of screwing musicians and being strung out on prescription drugs...who cares

What happened to him? He has turned out to be such a weirdo!

I'm with Patti - I will never watch anything with Gibson in it again. Haven't for a couple of years now and I doubt anything he could do would ever get me to change my mind. So, more bad things about me doesn't surprise me in the least.

Another visitor (or Associated Content contributor hiding as a visitor) who defends Mel Gibson. It's a scary world.

  • The Truth12/16/2010

This article is so one sided. Wynona obviously has two movies coming out and she needs all the publicity she can get. It's call sympathy!

    You're defending Gibson, Mick? Okay....

  • Mick12/16/2010

I don't deny that Gibson is a dousch but so are all the other hollywood "stars".

Also, so much for unbiased reporting. This is an editoral, right. nnd not just the facts.

If I am not allowed to care that rappers and artist are bigots I suppose I have to make myself still watch Mel's movies. At least the are generally good. I think Edge of Darkness didn't do well because it wasn't particularly good.
