I am not going to bore you with information on what a compression tool does because they have been around forever. The most famous one is WinZip. I must say other compression programs are not as fluid in their support as WinRAR.
WinRAR does support most of the popular compression formats. I like that because of the wide variety of compressed files I receive. With WinRAR, I only need one compression tool to extract files. Talk about saving time!
Learning to use WinRAR was effortless. I was up and running with it within an hour and compressing media files in no time. I love the ability to virus scan the files as you are working without having to play around with the virus software. The WinRAR even has interfaced themes to change the look of your archiver. It's a cute feature. I loved the Aladdin theme!
Easy of use brings me to something I've dreamed of and that's password-compressed files. Now, I can send my documents unconcerned of which third parties are watching on the Internet. It adds a layer of security I didn't have before. Another thing I really liked is that I could purchase a license valid for other languages and versions. WinRAR is available in variety of languages from most of the European countries, to Asia and the Middle East they even offer it in Valencian. This comes in handy when I send things internationally.
The creators of WinRAR have been very conscious of their users in the creation of this product. WinRAR has many features that its main competitor WinZip doesn't have. The main thing I've noticed is the speed at which I can compress files no matter what the format. Not only is this product ideal for multimedia files, you don't have to spend an hour compressing. Add free updates to the list and WinRAR becomes a 4.5 on a scale of 5.
