The Hartford Wolf Pack
The Hartford Wolf Pack, the New York Rangers AHL affiliate are Connecticut's minor league hockey team. The Pack play their home games at the XL Center in downtown Hartford, CT. In twelve seasons, the Pack has made the playoffs every year, winning the Calder Cup in 2000.
With tickets starting at just $10 a person, seeing a Wolf Pack game is the perfect thing to do on a winter day. Throughout the season there are plenty of promotional nights, and Friday's are usually Guida's Family Nights, where you can buy 3 tickets, 3 soda's, 3 hot dogs or pizza slices, and a souvenir for as low as $45. It's hard to beat that deal.

Big Y Kids Fair
Big Y Kids Fair takes place during the second weekend of February at the Connecticut Expo Center in Hartford, CT. The fair is full of fun things for the kids.

The fair runs from 10 AM- 5 PM, Saturday and Sunday.

Eagle Watches by the CT River
The Opportunity to track Bald Eagles along the Connecticut River as they soar above the sky. The trip, sponsored by the Audubon Shop, takes place every Saturday starting the last two weeks in January thru the end of February.
The trip begins at 7:45 in Madison, CT, 907 Boston Post Road. If that's too early, you can opt to begin your trip at 8:30, at the boat lunch in Hadaam. The trip ends at 1:15.
Cost- $20 for lunch at, Oliver's Tavern in Essex.
Note- transportation is by car, not boat. If you forget your binoculars, don't worry you can rent a pair for $4. But, remember your camera, because there are no rentals and you don't want to miss the wonderful photo opportunity of these magnificent birds.

Ski Sundown
One of the perks of living in New England in the winter, is the snow. Skiers and snowboarders can spend the winter enjoying the snow at Ski Sundown. Sundown is located at 126 Ratlum Rd. New Hartford, CT.
The slopes are open: Mon. - Fri. from 9AM-10PM. Sat. & Sun. from 8 AM- 10 PM.
Sundown contains 5 lifts and 15 trails with beginner, intermediate and expert runs.
New skiers can take lessons including children as young as 4.

Lyman's Annual Winterfest
This is an amazing indoor and outdoor winter event, located on Rte 147 & Rte 157, in Middlefield, CT. This is a great way to spend some time during the cold winter month of February. Families heading to Winterfest can expect to find among other things:
- Ice Carving Demonstrations and sculptures.
- Sled dog mushing demos.
- Horse drawn wagon rides.
- Igloo Making demonstrations.
- Apple pie baking workshop for children.
- Rail Jam Exhibition with Ski Sundown complete with portable ski jump.
- Winterfest officially begins on Saturday, February 20th and continues thru Sunday February 21st.
Hours are: 8 AM- 7 PM Saturday, 8 AM- 6 PM on Sunday.
Admission to Winterfest is free, but food, and participation in some of the exhibits do cost money.
