Winter Birthday Party Ideas for Kids
The best birthday parties are those lacking structure. While it's smart to have an idea of some fun activities, birthday parties are supposed to be about having fun, not sticking to a schedule. When kids get together they're usually pretty good at making up their own fun. With that in mind, consider these winter party ideas.
Guitar Hero World Tour
Guitar Hero took the nation by storm by showing kids and adults what it feels like to be a rock star. Developer Neversoft Entertainment upped the ante when they expanded the game to include World Tour, which includes guitars, vocals and drums, and allows up to four players to play at one time. If your kid loves to sing and dance, imagine how excited they'll be behind a drum set. If you've already got an Xbox 360, you can nab a Guitar Hero World Tour for about $160. While pricey, if your kid thoroughly enjoys music, this game will keep them occupied for years to come. Banging around on the drums is also great exercise. Plus World Tour will teach them better eye and hand coordination. Once the birthday party's over, you can host a family night once or twice a week where the whole family plays. Buy it as an early Christmas present. With World Tour, you're guaranteed to be the coolest mom on the block.
Have the kids paint their faces like rock stars and then videotape them performing. Make copies and mail to each birthday participant.
If you're not quite ready to invest in World Tour, another idea is to rent or buy a karaoke machine for your kid's winter birthday party. Contact each mom to find out what her kid's favorite song is. Be sure to have it ready when the kids arrive.
Dancing
If you're on a tight budget, a fun, inexpensive idea for a winter party is to simply set the stage for some indoor dancing. Push the furniture aside and set up the boom box. If it's an all-girl's party, consider letting the girls dress up in some of your old clothing or hit up the thrift store to find cheap, glitzy gear that your girls can wear while dancing.

Post a CommentNice ideas. P.S. - I'm sorry you don't like chopped liver!
Fun fun fun!
sounds like fun!
Karaoke? God save me! I'm with Chuck E.
My winter child would love a Chuck E. Cheese party... using coupons, of course, to offset the cost of tokens and pizza. Winter babies don't get outdoor parties and that is a pity.
