Revisit Old Favorites- It may be some old dusty records, movies, books, or maybe some family photos. (I know, what are records? Ok CD's then..Shush, already, I'm not that old!) Dance your heart out to what brings back good memories. Snuggle up and laugh at those shows that happen to be on marathon. These could be part of your personal collection that you haven't watched for awhile. Take a gander at pictures of you or your family members and get a laugh.
Create Something-Nothing ordinary here! Try something new. Maybe, you have a recipe you want try. Writing a letter (yes, am I showing my age again?) to someone in a far off place, might make a nice diversion. If you are a hobbyist of any sort, bring it on! Find something that has been buried in that gadget closet and give it a go! That reminds me, I have yet to try my screen printing set that I found at a rummage sale.
Rearrange- Okay, maybe I am "out there" on this one! Change can really make things less stale. If you are gung ho, you could alter your whole living space. Some of us may want to start small, with a spice drawer or that desk that is so covered, it's unidentifiable. I have a closet and pantry to contend with. Right now, those are on the" I don't want to go there" list! (Desperation must hit me first.) Honestly, I enjoy moving pictures; it's a quick hit of newness.
Plan-Make some goals. Write out how to get what you want. It could be a budget, weight loss, education or a travel aspiration. Taking the mystery out of things to some extent, may help us to achieve what we crave. (This makes me wonder about resolutions and the New Year. Hmm. Does the temperature play into our need to reach towards our ambitions? ) I adore delving into travel plans, deep into the cold of January. If you really get planning, you may wish to dig into research. Your local library and the internet can keep someone busy for a lifetime.
Go out and play but, don't let the indoors get you down. Remember, your home is yours. The only person's expectations of your domicile (that matter) are your own. Your good sense may be saved by letting things be momentarily and taking on a diversion. I find that I can again tackle the routine again, after I've taken respite from it.
