Mittens
For this bulletin board idea you will need construction paper, scissors, markers, yarn, pencils, and glue. You will also need butcher paper to cover the bulletin board. Start talking to middle school students about staying warm in winter.
Then instruct middle school kids to use the pencil to draw a large oval onto a piece of construction paper. Then have children add a small oval on the side to make a thumb on the side of the mitten. Help children write their name on the mitten. They can also use paper scraps and markers to decorate their piece to suit their personality.
While middle school children are creating their mitten you can cover the bulletin board with butcher paper. When the mittens are done attach them to the bulletin board in a large circle. Finally add the yarn connecting each mitten. You may also add a message to the center of the bulletin board using the yarn.
Hot Chocolate
The next bulletin board idea that is fun for winter is hot chocolate. For this middle school project you will need construction paper, markers, glue, scissors, and magazines. You will also need to cover the bulletin board with paper.
Help middle schools cut a large rectangle from the construction paper. Then use the scraps to cut a C shape for the handle. Help students glue the handle onto the mug. While the glue is drying help students decide on something they would like to portray with their mug. You can use a subject your class has been studying. You can also allow students to use these mugs to express their own personalities.
Then instruct middle school kids to look through magazines and cut out letters they find in their name. Help kids glue the letters along the top of side of the mug. Students should also decorate the mug with images or details they have decided on earlier. When the mugs are all done allow students to hang their projects on the bulletin board.
These winter ideas are easy and enjoyable. Middle school kids will have fun helping create these bulletin board ideas, and they will add charm to your classroom.
